Laptop died... again
This time it seems like there's a problem with the memory chip, CMOS battery or the motherboard (hope it's not). It's a 5 y/o laptop which I cleaned every 6 months and measured temp closely, so overheating is very unlikely.
Back then, whenever it boots up and powers off instantly, I usually purge the "flea power" by holding down the power button, and that helped. Not this time though
So I'll probably won't be around much.

Hm and the power brick as well as the battery are still fine, too?

OP
Yeah, they are both intact. I also checked the RAM, so it seems like it's either CMOS battery or motherboard is the culprit.

And it is out of your budget to just get a similar old laptop and replace yours with it? :0

OP
Well, I'm not sure if those parts can be replaced with a reasonable amount of $$$, otherwise I might as well save up for a PC instead.

What happens if you pull the battery out and just power it with the adapter?

Same thing. But I got it sorted now, I think.
