"Accidentally" Shooting yourself. Is not an "accident".

Whenever I hear a story of someone "accidentally" shooting themselves, I laugh and call that person a dumb-ass.
Even dropping your gun and having it go off is not the gun's fault, it is your fault for dropping the damn thing.
The story usually goes like this "Mr. or Ms. Herp-a-derp was cleaning his/her gun and accidentally shot him/herself in his/her big stupid face."
Also, why the fuck are so many people cleaning their guns without clearing them first? You fucking morons! I have no sympathy for stupid. Here's your Darwin Award, thank you for taking yourself out of the gene pool.
Blaming a gun or other inanimate object for a person's own stupidity is, well, stupid.
Jeff Cooper advocated four basic rules of gun safety (gun control if you will), and they are AMAZINGLY simple and easy to follow, and eliminate all possibility of negligent discharge, I was taught this as far back as the cub scouts even with BB guns, and I have yet to shoot myself in my big stupid face:
1. All guns are always loaded. Even if they are not, treat them as if they are.
2. Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy/kill/shoot. (For those who insist that this particular gun is unloaded, see Rule 1.)
3. Keep your finger off the trigger till your sights are on the target. This is the Golden Rule. Its violation is directly responsible for about 60 percent of inadvertent discharges.
4. Identify your target, and what is behind/beyond it. Never shoot at anything that you have not positively identified.
Pretty fuckin' simple if you ask me.

Completely agree with all of this. I just feel sorry for other people who become victims of the gun-owners' carelessness.
