Convention - Furry Fiesta 2016: Room planning?
*sighs* So I got the event planning email today. I dunno, guys. I want to attend, but I always have a tough time with roommates. I might try to look for roommates on r/furry but they're far from conservative around there lol...
As per last year, I need a roommate situation for the convention:
- Thursday-through-Monday required
- Minimal 'private time' moments (When I need in the room, I need in the room right then, plus there's lots of things I just plain don't want to see)
- Bed to myself, period (I have major issues getting good sleep, especially in the last 4-6 months, in addition to personal space issues)
- No snorers (Same reasons as above)
Maximum I can afford is 1/3 of the total, not 1/2. Preferably I'd like to pay less but the price should be settled on before the convention. If anything, put money in my tip jar, though my plans for Werewolf this year are a bit different. More management/networking, less Mayoring. I may be Innkeepering again this year, however. That was fun two years ago.
As for my Werewolf plans themselves, whether I personally attend or not, and assuming they give us the same room as before... We will be doing the same process as Sunday. Three separate circles with a focus on smaller, shorter games. This means that my experienced Town Mayors will be starting to take over for me a step deeper than last year. I love GM'ing, I love doing Werewolf with everyone, but at Fiesta, Werewolf is big. And lately I spend so much of my mental fortitude in marketing and networking and catching up with people and explaining the game, that I have been going a bit nutty by the end of the con. I want to try a new approach where I start to be less vital to the whole thing.
So in addition to the three circles, I'm going to be having a waiting area where I get people to sit who are waiting for a new game. That's right, a line. Those who get eliminated before the game is over and those who just arrived have seating priority for the next game to open up, and those who stayed alive to the end of the previous game will sometimes have to wait for enough people to become available. This is to ensure that there's a new game starting up every 30 minutes or less. I really want to improve Werewolf's reputation as being tough to get into a game of and a huge time commitment. I don't like that in many past years, it can be 2 hours or more of waiting before you can even play if you have bad timing. So circles will have limits (one 'big' 15-20, two 'small' 10-15) and I'll have to play things by ear outside of that.
If the sound system is used at all, it will be for managing when new games are starting, and if applicable, Show Games. That is, pre-scheduled big games such as a 25-person No Reveal or a 30-person 'Quick Death' game. Is there anything in particular that people would like to see in regards to that? ... Well, I'll ask more about that later. Obviously I need to resolve the roommate situation first. Can't do anything with the sound system unless its actually there.
