Has the Furry Fandom lost its roots in a way?
Don't get me wrong, I love this fandom. But when was the last time you had a good conversation with another fur that involved actually talking about anthro characters that are not in just artwork? I'm talking about movies, shows, comics, and to a lesser extent video games. It's hard to find other furries that like that kind of stuff. I blame mostly the fact that a LOT of anthro shows and movies are considered by the fandom to be too goofy or childish, which some of them actually can be. It's hard to find people who actually watched shows like, say, C.O.W.Boys of Moo Mesa that aren't below the age of 40 (which isn't a bad thing, but I feel out of place being 24 here.). But if you look at promotional stuff for furry conventions from like 1989-2006, you'll see that it was almost like an expo for these kinds of movies and shows. Hell, Princess Vi from Samurai Pizza Cats was on the cover of the program book for ConFURence one year, which is, as we know, now defunct. I'm not saying the "new" ideas of the fandom are a bad thing, it's just a shame that the old ideas are kinda underground the new ones like the track of a revamped dark ride at a Disney park. Anthro video games are talked about more frequently because they don't suffer as much from the whole "it's only for kids" cliche. There used to be more fursuits of anthro characters created "outside" the fandom like Charlie and Balto. What we have now is pretty much just Pokemon, Digimon, and (thankfully) the new Zootopia. I'm hoping that 2016 will, with over 10 anthro movies coming out, swing that pendulum back again so that maybe we can bring back the adoration of these movies to the fandom. And I get it, almost everyone likes Pokemon in the fandom. I love Pokemon. Not bashing Pokemon or Digimon here. I dunno, I just kinda want more light shone on those forms of anthro media. There's so much to the furry fandom that gets highly ignored.
Now, it's all about the fursuits, the shenanigans, internet memes, the sexual acts (not just yiff art, that's been in the fandom since the 80's and it's here to stay), bad dragon, and whatever goes on in the panels. And that's fine too, I'm not going against any of that. If you like it you like it and if you don't you don't. But it just seems like this fandom has a lot of unused potential.
Thoughts?

I believe that the fandom should just continue growing with a lot of it's good aspects like what mostly a lot of people do outside,
because that's pretty much how we give the world a better understanding of ourselves, since we are just a bunch of people who
have very interesting fantasy's, ideas and creativity. There is a lot of fun going here, people draw art, fursuits are awesome, etc.
But rather being on the social media where we all find most of the not so right stuff or weird stuff on there.....I mean it exists, that's
what we deal with as for every other fandom having the same thing to. But to be bluntly honest, the porn or fetishes out there does
sell and really, when people go searching for that stuff online, it gives people sort of a discomfort and will be like oh....is this was furries
are? It could be said to anime, or game characters and heck even bronies or super heroes and shit like that......
I will say I like some of the adult, but I know my limits and I am not in the fandom for all of that nor would I label the fandom of being all about it.
Because I look at the good sides of the fandom which is a very huge roll.
