And that's a wrap! [S5 finale spoilers]
Darn. At least a whole year since the last post. Life, ya know? I could have posted a journal somewhere during season 5, it just didn't happen. Not sure if anyone needs any summary posts about episodes from me anyway. So many people who make those, and a lot better then I could as well. Still, seems a bit slacking to not have made a single post during an entire season. And honestly? I am not sure how much that is going to change during season 6, whenever that will start.
I could hold a long spiel, but simply put, we are running out of drinking water. Err, I mean, I don't have the obsession with the show I used to have, and besides the every-day responsibilities my focus on what I do in my free time has shifted. That has been the same for the others for years now I assume, doesn't seem anyone logged on during season 5. So, ya know, don't expect much activity from this group any more (I am sure most of you didn't already anyway).
Having said all that, its still a hobby for me, and I am sure I will be watching season 6, EQG4 an the pony movie in 2017. I am also pretty sure I will still attend at least one Pony con next year. So who knows, might randomly log on again at some point. *Shrugs*
Anyway, season 5. As with previous seasons, I am sure we all have our favourite episodes and episodes we liked less. New characters to either love or hate (or anything in between). For me, it was a fun season. The days where I watched every episode many, many times are long gone and I no longer need to see the episode as soon as it comes out. I did watch em all though, and I can look back with fondness on the 5th season. Just don't expect me to win any trivia contest. The season finale... again, there are going to be different opinions about the plot, Starlight's motivation, her redemption, characterization of the ponies involved, etc etc. I hope that we can agree on one thing though: It was a great callback to the previous seasons. I loved seeing so many familiar faces again. For that alone its very much worth watching I think. And how far we've come. Remember the "war" between the buffalo and the settler ponies from "Over a Barrel" from season 1 (Little Strongheart still best one-shot character btw)? Today we saw an actual war that, even if its still very much simplified, showed us a lot of facets that come with it. Armies, drafting, war preparations, manufacture, supply chains... Maybe its me, but if I look at the Sombra bit and then recall the pie-fights in Over a Barrel... Different cup of coffee if you ask me.
Well then... Gonna be a while until more Hasbro-approved new pony stuff folks. Looking at my little country, the fandom is evolving. The average age is going down, and older bronies often are or have been forming small groups that avoid the main community and instead keep to themselves. Could be just here could be everywhere. As always, I am curious what the future will bring, how the fandom will change, and what will happen to ponies. No promises when/if I will post again, but I am sure no one cares and we all have our own communities anyway, right?
Cheers folks. May you find joy in life, be that through ponies or anything else ^^

it was a fun run...
Anyway, now that the final of the final season has official aired, its time to also make a final post here. Just in case someone is still wondering, you never know. I've been keeping up with the show and greatly enjoyed the final, but this group officially hasn't been around in any real capacity for years now.
Unless someone else logs in (which I think is extremely unlikely), consider this me standing in the doorway, looking back at an apartment lacking any furniture but full of memories. And then switching of the lights and closing the door to use a 90's sitcom cliche.
Or perhaps, more appropriately, closing the book and find myself looking at the back cover.
There might still be some EQG stuff on the horizon, apparently we will be getting more canon material for the tv show from the comics and who knows what G5 will bring, but... For both MLPM and the tv show, this is it. Kinda already was, but it seemed right to at least make a final post at this time. Cheers.
