Crempuff won't eat
General
It started yesterday, I upped her pain meds to the full dose and she still won't eat, she has not eaten since this time yesterday and since Tuesday has barely eaten at all so I worry about fatty liver disease which sets in very quickly when a cat will not eat and is deadly.
She won't even attempt to drink the liquid diet stuff now.
She had her re-check yesterday and the vet said her mouth was "not as good as they would like" so they gave her a long term antibiotic shot called convenia and I looked it up and it can kill a cat's appetite among other way more serious even deadly things the vet never disclosed with me, a bad reaction can happen at any time for up to a month, and there is no way to get the medication out of her system if she has a deadly reaction.
I am just so worried and upset, I have this pit in my stomach that makes me feel like I am going to loose her, I keep bursting into tears.
EDIT: she took 2 tiny bites of tuna and drank the water from the can, I offered her more tuna water, 3 kinds of all-meat baby food, the liquid diet, the recovery foo... but shes gone back to acting interested but not eating.
I did not get much into her system but at least it is something, and hopefully enough to stave off the liver issues. She's acting fine, so if her behavior remains normal I will hold off on seeing a vet until tomorrow.
I am still really worried guys, namely because I read about cats suddenly dying from that antibiotic shot like a week after it was given :/
My vet did not discuss any risks with me at all so I am really peeved, I am a HUGE worry wart to the point of being neurotic so my gut is going to feel like Creampuff could die any moment for a long time because of this.

You could always take small smears of soft food and smear it on her gums/tongue.
If nothing else works talk to your veterinarian about maybe prescribing an appetite stimulant (e.g., mirtazapine or cyproheptadine) or even recommend placement of a feeding tube. While this sounds horrible, tubes make giving cats all the food, medications and water they need so easy.
I don't know if it's available in america, but there is a paste called nutri cal. High energy treat for cats/ dogs who refuses to eat. Maybe you can try somethign like that
also when my cat had to be on really strong antibiotics they always gave me fortiflora for her stomach. maybe thatd be worth asking about? i think it might help with the apetite
But if you have a very liquid-y cat food that is high in calories, could you put it in a large syringe and sorta put it in the back of her mouth like medicine to see if that could spark her appetite, or at the very least, just get something in her stomach???
Kitty needs to eat something to keep her strength up. At least until you can see the doctor's again.
I'm sorry, Beast. :( I hope she gets better soon.
You can purchase a syringe and mix wet cat food with water, and squirt in her mouth (force feeding her). It's a messy process but some food makes it in. Cats also apparently LOVE pumpkin--if you can find canned pumpkin (NOT pie filling!) try feeding it to Creampuff.
This journal just breaks my heart because Boo had FLD, we had to put her down because she jaundiced all over, wouldn't eat, was clearly in pain...
I just wish we had caught it sooner. we tried everything, force feeding was torture I felt like. She threw it up everywhere, was so delicate... She sniffed pumpkin but by that point I think the thought of food was miserable to her. :c
But either way, I'm certain she knows you love her.
It would be costly but might help. she would have to stay at the vet tho.
Does she still drink? Even if nothing else works, you could try putting Pedialyte in her water... It's not as good as food, but there's some amount of nutritional content there...
Personally, I would give the vet a good ear chewing about not warning you of the side effects...or a kick in the rump, depending on how helpful they are.
I also second the idea of mixing wet food with water and using a syringe or turkey baster (very easy to find this time of year) to force feed her if she doesn't start eating soon. Speaking from experience, pain can kill appetite, so can pain meds (because they often come with an upset stomach as a side effect). Having had dental surgery myself, I know that the mouth is one of those areas that can stay sore for a long time, particularly if the weather is changing. She may also be getting used to the idea of no teeth and how it feels. Hopefully the reason she isn't eating is in this vein, something that she will get over soon.
On another note, how is your kitty, Rebel, doing? Better I hope.
