Updates - Felton Irregulars Defined and Life BS
10 years ago
And after a long span of quiet (aside from a good bit of artsy goodness), we're back with another Felton Irregulars Defined entry, as well as a general status report. Things have so quiet for the last couple of months due to certain work and personal stresses… Yep, still at the same job - though they pushed me back to a part of the job I'm more comfortable with, so that's something. Things keep getting stupider and more frustrating there, so we'll see how long it holds.
However, the primary issues have been just emotional/mental… I've been in a kind of bad headspace for the last few months. I've been tired fairly regularly, not sleeping well for ages - and I'm a very anxious, high strung person, to be honest. As exhausted as I've been, it's impacted my drive to get work done. And because I haven't been making progress in a lot of areas (or not as much as I'd like), I've been making myself miserable and have been very critical of myself. There's been some very negative thoughts running through my head, and it's been a kind of vicious cycle… To say nothing about other things that it's impacted.
Erm… ANYWAY, I'm working on those issues. Talked to my doctor and got some medication, and I don't know if it's helping, but I'm going to be trying to work stuff out harder - and try not to be so negative towards myself, and try to find a rate I can work on my project at.
So, time to get back on the saddle. Got an update of the F.I.D. variety! So if anybody is actually interested in these, here you go…
In this world, non-human entities keep their existence on the hush-hush. They are a minority, and have reasonable concerns over their continued health and safety if humanity as a whole ever found out Extranatural species are real… But that doesn't mean they're an entirely unknown quantity.
Higher level government and military branches have some awareness of Extranatural beings, as well as specialized law enforcement - but there are other groups who are aware are more than humans in the world. Some are private interest groups in big business; there are a few religious sects who acknowledge the existence of inhuman entities; there are "monster hunters" and Extranatural enthusiasts… As much as Extranaturals try to stay on the down-low, the world isn't 100% unaware. And today, some of these groups are given note:
The Rejectionists - A faction of "monster" hunters that seek to "correct" history by destroying Extranatural culture and peoples.
The 30 Pieces - A religious order that views the existence of Extranaturals as a punishment for Man's betrayal of faith. They are violent zealots who will kill Extranaturals and human "sinners" alike.
The Red Band - A private military company that specializes in hunting Extranaturals for a profit; they do not have any personal motivations for their choice in target beyond money.
Wahler Institute - A big pharmaceutical and industrial powerhouse looking to exploit Extranaturals for their own gain. Not exactly evil, but patently amoral.
Sons of Adam - Essentially a group of "conspiracy nuts," they are vocal but harmless religious protestors against the activities of Extranaturals, easily ignored and discredited.
Hominis Dominae - A legendary Purist order, last confirmed active during the Crusades. Predating Christianity, they made it their duty to hunt down Extranaturals, humans that consorted with them - and the hybrid children of Extranatural and human couples. The extinction of numerous cryptid animals and sentient Extranatural races are credited to the Hominis Dominae.
Aubern Institute - An association of academics and well-meaning humans with old world roots, they are friendly with the Extranatural community, and strive to advance the study of the supernatural and extranatural world.
Volkov-Vostok Corporation - A major multi-national conglomerate that clandestinely caters products and services geared to Extranaturals. The board is mixed with human and Extranatural members - mostly vampires and lycanthropes.
Different Is Beautiful (D.I.B.) - An underground fetishist organization espousing romantic and erotic love between humans and Extranaturals.
Knights of the Black Briar - An old Germanic/Teutonic order of Extranatural and human allies, formed during the Crusades to help hide and protect supernatural relics and knowledge of both factions from the Church and other destructive forces. Now defunct, there are small offshoots of the Black Briar that work toward the benefit of Extranaturals.
Haaah... Welp, yay, this is up! Back in the saddle after several months... And you can thank my mate,
JosephH for helping me work up the groups, and
Notin89 for asking about this matter several months back and giving me fuel for another update. As always, if there's a particular topic you folks might have an interest in, ask away - and it may give me fuel for another round of Felton Irregulars Defined! Enjoy!
