I was reading comments to a fanfiction story I was reading and someone comments annoyed me. Complaining it was wrong for a character to be depicted as childish and unfair, when the character and OC btw was meant to be immature and EVIL. This was the VILLAIN your not supposed to LIKE them, their flaws are meant to be there to accent WHY they are the villain of the piece, if they didn't have those flaws then they wouldn't be the bad guy.

It got me thinking about a similar annoyance, and that is fangirling(even if the perpetrator is male it's fangirling as far as I am concerned) of villains. Fans insisting a villain is a "good guy" because they have a motivation for their horribleness and are pretty boys. This annoys me because no matter how terrible of people these guys are they are treated like the woobie by the fangirls. the poor victim of a cruel world they everyone is just bullying. In the Yu-gi-oh fandom Yami Bakura is this despite the fact he's a frigging demonic overlord on levle with Satan. Seperoth from FF7 get it even though he's a omicidal slasher villain. Draco from harry potter gets even though he's a terrible racist and coward. How is a real nice guy supposed to get any respect if he's not some kind of pretty boy, why do the highly attractive get a free pass even if they are horrible when moderately good looking people have to PROVE they are good?
