A Sad Day
I'm not much for venting my feelings here, most of the time anyway. However, I do find myself rather upset currently. Since 2005 I have been an avid lover of photography. During all that time, my constant companion was a Canon Rebel Xsi. I bought it in 2005 during my first year at MWSU, and every trip, vacation, convention or gathering I went too, it was hanging around my neck. Anyone who has met me in real life, has likely seen this camera hanging around my neck. I have easily taken tens of thousands of photos, and I wouldn't be surprised if the number was over 100,000.
Many of the most memorable and meaningful moments of my life, not to mention an overwhelming majority of the photos on this site, have been captured by that camera. It has in a fairly literal sense, grown up with me. Long story short, I love my camera.
However...much to my dismay and sadness, it is now nearly inoperable. It is suffering from sensor errors, mechanical issues, and read/write errors. I am trying to fix it, but experts I have spoken too, have said it will likely cost more to repair it, than it is worth.
I'll admit, when I heard that, I cried a bit.
It seems, the time has finally come, to look towards getting a new camera...and lay my faithful friend to rest on my shelf. I can't bear the thought of throwing it away, so I'll put it behind glass and cherish the memories of what used too be.
RIP my faithful friend.
