The Rantings of an Art Crazed Chow, Second verse, same as the first.
I better make them count. Yep, I'm down to 3 blank pages in my sketchbook and now it is time to ask the hard question, when I buy a new sketchbook, what shall I get?
In the past I have always gone towards the cheap, getting something that did not have to require me to sell off parts of my soul and my spleen. Wallyworld has a nice one, black book like for about $10 while their other ones were cheap alright, glued spines with little to no support, heck, bending them open the wrong way and paper flies out.
My confidence in the graphics pad has dropped a little but in a sense that is a good thing cause practicing on paper medium means possible improvement. I'm also trying to ween myself off of using 2B pencils and trying other pencils. My current weapon of choice is a straight B pencil, the lines are a bit darker, although not at all sharp, but it makes for easy erasure. When payday rolls around again, if I don't have to scrounge up cans or pillage the piggy bank, I will check out Michaels or somewhere else for a cheap sketch book and then of course I have to decide how to deflower this virgin book, porn on the first page, or something more tame. I had thoughts of going with a separate sketchbook again for the hard candy, I went that route before because at the time I was living with my brother and his wife and as all ladies go, they tend to get nosy. If push comes to shove, I do have some incomplete stuff in the old sketchbook I might erase to use the space, and I still have loose sheets of vellum that I use at the drawing desk for keeper works. Cheers.

I'm kinda lazy with stuff like that, I got spoiled too much with sketchbooks. As for pencils,
I still have plenty of other pencils I can use, perhaps I might find something between H and
B that will feel comfortable enough to draw with. Thanks for the reply sorry it is late.
Erasing on construction paper tends to get a bit messy, and trust me, I'm a massive eraser type.
If you bend the spine too much, the papers get loose and currently I'm using a canvas bag to carry art supplies.
But if push come to shove, perhaps I might go that route. Thanks.
one page erased, not too baldy so I can start another project, and I still have a few old sketchbooks with room
for maybe a few more doodles and I still have my art desk vellum... Hmmm, the art desk is gathering a lot
of dust, but lately I hardly have enough time to sit down, tape a piece to it, put on some music and hand
the muse her whip. But again, thanks for the suggestion and if anything, this gives me a chance to chat,
work is boring today.
Strathmore, I believe is the company I'm thinking of, makes a good brand of sketch books, if memory serves me right.
around you to see what you are drawing and depending on what I am drawing, that is good, the less artistic inclined tend to keep a comfortable distance which in some ways is good. And if you are in the company of others from the genre you draw from, It's party time!!!
Thanks for your comments. By no means am I'm bashing digital arts, I've learn a lot from it, the paper medium is just handy when I'm out and about. Cheers.
