The joys of dental work
General
So, for the past couple of weeks, the back molar on the bottom-right side of my jaw has been hurting on and off and I haven't figured out why. Today I go to the dentist to have it checked out and sure enough, the tooth in question needs a root canal and a crown, it's either that or have it extracted, either procedure will cost me a helluva lot of money and I can't afford any insurance since I don't make enough to pay for it. That being said, right now I'm feeling a lot of anxiety and helplessness, I'm on the verge of tears because I never thought this would happen, that this tooth would get to this state three years after I had it treated for an infection. Top that off with the fact I'm already paying off a debt from my last dental procedure. Part of me is tempted to ask for help or have a GoFundMe, another part of me tells me that it somehow feels wrong to ask for money from other peoples' donation for something like this, I really don't know what to do. Yes, I do have employment, but the hours and wage I get are barely enough to get by since they can't afford to give me more hours, I work anywhere from 15-20 hours MAX on any given week. They don't even offer healthcare coverage for dental, vision, etc, so yeah, I'd have to pay 100% upfront.
As it stands, I feel frustrated, helpless, and my stupid anxiety is kicking in right now. I mostly needed to vent but for those who take the time to read this and feel like commented, thank you for being by my side. I'm a nervous wreck right now

Yeah, it is, and I don't know what to do. Would it be bad for me to consider possibly a GoFundMe? And I hope I didn't ruin your day...
I am so sorry to hear this sweetheart, no insurance really really sucks, we don't have any either as we don't make enough to pay for it. Both my husband and I have dental issues but the one worse off in this family is our eldest daughter. almost all of her molars are plagued by severe cavities that have rotted away holes in her teeth right down to the root. Thank heavens she is not in pain anymore but the damage... I've never seen anything like it, and we have always kept her away from sugar and junk, so it must be all the additives in non organic food these days. I do not think I want to know how much it would cost upfront 100% Or even the co pay if we had insurance. So I can understand your frustration and nervousness right now. We are in the same boat. I really hope things get better for you soon my dear, money is just...such a pain in the butt, but cant get along without it. Everything is just so darn expensive. I am so so sorry!!

I hope so as well *hugs back* I would do a GoFundMe, I fear that doing so will cause repercussions

I haven't had them, but I've had my share of pain...

I was here in this exact position. In so much pain with no way out and no way to pay the bill. I got the teeth extracted via a dental surgeon for free. I got into contact with a Catholic charity who treated me with dignity... I'm not Catholic but they did not care they still helped me. Get in touch with a Catholic Church if you want, they can probably help.

I'm considering/pooling all my options before I jump the gun, but if it comes to that, I'll do it *hugs*

I feel you. I waited so long and was in so much pain. The dentist I was able to see under the free health care says it was too much for him and that I could get really sick. That's when I decided to finally do something.

And I appreciate your feedback and views on the matter, the pain isn't severe as it is off and on, a dull throbbing pain, it's just having to fork out a large sum of money that adds a lot of stress.
