Prepare to have your world expanded my friend!

1. Exactly, that's the idea I was going for, a sort of automotive social services. I would also imagine that in this universe this would have been something that only came about later on. I imagine there'd be a decade or so where people bickered and crap about weather or not the cars were actually conscious and weather or not abusing them was really any kind of mental trauma for something that was just a robot.. you know, typical stupid human stuff.

2. I don't think such a thing as a freed car VIN would exist, there's too much money involved for no one to want to try to sell them. I'd imagine if any cars were to live free they'd have to hide somewhere, and letting your car free to live in such a secret society would have to be something shared very hush hush through word of mouth almost like a black market so that the dealers wouldn't find them. That scene from that movie AI where the abandoned robots are chased down and captured to be destroyed in that demo-derbie place comes to mind. I could imagine dealerships having groups that would do that sort of thing.. hunt down rogue cars to be captured and resold.

Though with the cap thing and such, I could imagine that working. Like if a family or single owner doesn't use his car much, he could allow his car to go off and get it's own job somewhere either as a cab or something.. or maybe working in vehicle-centric jobs like stores/bars/clubs that cater specifically to cars. Couldn't you imagine Cindi and Ashley shopping at a car clothing store? :)

3. That's right, if someone's car has a baby they can only sell them to dealerships. It's different then IRL where you can sell your car on craigslist, because in this universe cars can be bred. So as long as you had a male and female car you could perpetually breed babies and keep selling them like a business.. so it's a lot less controlled. Well no, actually the owners of the parent cars can raise and own as many of the babies as they want, they just can't sell them. Of course they also have to register every baby and pay the extra property tax on them. Keep in mind every baby is going to grow to a fullsized car eventually so you can't realistically keep more then maybe one or two. But that's also split between both parent cars. So say you owned a car and it had babies with say your neighbor's car. Both of your households would have a claim on the offspring to do with however you both see fit, aside from the above mentioned forbidden things.

Also, about the dealerships competing, I could see that because they are separate businesses. But also keep in mind, they all get their cars from one giant company in this universe, Animech. They bought out all the car manufacturers in this universe, made their pre-existing models over into the anthro-car models, and now all the cars only have the brand names in name only. Like Mazda doesn't really exist anymore, it's a subsidiary of Animech.
