A meme...
Since new puppy-age has hit my house, I haven't had time to draw. 'Sides, I'm waiting for the Macromedia/Adobe Creative Suite 4 Web Premium bundle I ordered to show up. Flash animation here I come! Boy, have I got some ideas there... Woohoo!
I can, however, spare a couple of seconds for a meme (of sorts) I've seen on the pages of a couple of people I'm watching (
vera being one). Here goes...
Things that hack me off (I'll admit it's a fairly short list)
- Art trolls who whose critiques consist of comments like "You suck!" without any explanation of what contributed to the suckiness
- Radio/Television pundits who have only the most superficial understanding of issues they are prattling on about, yet they seem to think that volume wins debates
- Movie "stars" who think I give a rat's patootie about their particular cause du jour or view of the political landscape. "You are woorfress, Arec Barrwin!"
- Office politics. If someone has to kiss ass, they should find a room...
- Self-important people
- While I'm on the subject of self-importance, artists who don't seem to have the time or the inclination to respond to comments from fans/watchers. When I miss responding to folks, I feel bad. Some don't even try... Guess they forgot who pays their emotional bills...
- Self-righteous people
- People who will talk smack about you behind your back but don't have the intestinal fortitude to say it to your face...
That's about it... As I said, short list...

Whew!! I was worried there for a second!!!
Actually, I've had very similar experiences. I comment/fave and never hear a word... I know that there are artists out there who are way, way better than me and I may be one of a thousand people who are fond of their art, but really... Maybe I'm being unrealistic, but if someone takes the time to comment on my art, I feel obligated to reply, if only to say thank you. Again, maybe the no-reply artists are too busy or maybe they forgot the feeling of being a new, inexperienced artist and how good it felt to get a comment like "Great work! Fave!"
Thanx again!

Just kidding.
Here's the thing about those celebrities with "political opinions". I was talking to my dad about this video I saw of Ted Nugent at a live concert of some sort. He walks out wielding some sort of firearm that is DEFINITELY not designed for hunting deer. He walks around shaking the firearm saying things to the effect of, "Hey, Obama, suck on this!" and "Hey, Pelosi, ride one of these!" My dad replies, "Why does he do this? Because it gets people talking about him. Why does Britney Spears act weird? Because it gets people talking about her."
Yeah, you may be right... Not about the sucking thing (at least I hope not), but you're probably right about the need for publicity for Nugent and Spears. For others tho' I think it's the fact that some celebrities seem to think that their fame gives them credibility. It's just that I don't think doing comedy schticks on SNL or winning an Oscar or two makes one an insta-expert on US foreign policy, religion or anything else other than acting. I never heard any of my buddies in the State Department ever lecture the public at large about method acting... Oh well... I guess the "politically active" actors and actresses, be they conservative or liberal, have the right to say whatever they want. I also have the right to ignore them.
Hope that makes sense...

Also, I can't wait to see what you do with flash!
I'm looking forward to playing around with Flash. I had an earlier version of Flash a while ago and it was not the easiest program to work with, but we'll see how it goes. If I can get the animation down, I can think of some awesome things I'd like to do...
Thanx again!
