Awesome, a storch the "I can fly backwards if wind is strong enough"

Hey, any plane can do that. The Storch is one of the few that can do it in a light breeze.

I fly remote control, and have been to several weekend events/parties around the country. The Iowa event is held at an RC airfield that is actually on a public airport property. A couple years ago it was breezy, 10-12 mph winds. We still had a blast with our toys, but one of the full scale pilots was doing the same with his piper cub since the wind was literally straight down the runway!

He must have shot at least 15 touch and goes, was fun just watching him. He'd taxi to the numbers, point it into the wind and throttle up with the brakes on, almost as soon as he let off the brakes the tail would lift and he'd rotate up! Couldn't have been more than a 30' roll without flaps. Once up he'd turn down wind and line up for landing. Flaps down it looked more like he was dropping in vertically from our angle. Once down he'd turn around and do it again. I found myself pondering how many times he could've gotten airborne, landed to a stop, and gotten airborne again in the full length of the runway? I'm betting at least 3-4 that day.

What a wonderful picture! It has so much potential for a story...Plane just landing or just taking off? Is she surprised, saddened, worried, or happy? Are those clouds an approaching storm or one that's already passed? Who's on the plane? Does she know who's on the plane? Why is she standing on the grass runway? So many possibilities

In the next picture Ukabor says something that indicates this is a story... I agree with you totally...
