Welcome to Balto's Journal
Well another mothers day gone by. Not that it matters to me. Its never been something I've observed. How does one celebrate mothers day when you have a mother wishes you were never born. You know as much as holidays like this annoy me. One can't help but feel like I've missed out on something. It's hard to relate to the attraction one has to a mother.
I am happy for those that can celebrate this day. Those of you who have a mother that loves and cares about you, Cherish the time you have and appreciate them. There are some of us who are not as fortunate. For what its worth, Happy mother day mom. *sigh*

If it makes you feel better, I've recently learned that the woman who founded Mother's Day was not a mother herself. After her own mother died, she was so passionate about celebrating her, she petitioned the government to dedicate Mother's Day. After she succeeded, she started an organization to petition all the world governments to recognize Mother's Day. And after she'd convinced most of the world's nations, she decided the holiday had gotten too commercial and began a movement to stop Mother's Day that apparently got so aggressive, she was arrested and jailed a number of times through the 1920s.
So, you're missing out on a holiday made up by a nutcase.
Trust me your not missing out on anything, it's another card/candy selling day for people to cash in on. Real mothers are made, through sweat and tears and sacrifice. The idea is enough for me.
