Happy Friday all! All but me, unfortunately as this is the start of another on-call week. Paging out on over 1600+ switches, 3800+ APs, hundreds of UPS, hundreds of environmental monitors and over 9000 monitored ports. Yep... even if our rate of errors and trouble is like 0.01%, that still means the blasted thing is going to be waking me up all week long. Pro tip for your youngin's doing post secondary: stay out of IT work. It's awful.

Okay, that said, there are a LOT of links for this Paw Post, so descriptions are going to be pretty brief on some stuff as this week coming back from a week off has been nuts, and, once again, I have had almost no free time to work on the list. I did at least get the highlight all done in advance. Today's artist highlight will be Rooc (aka Fly), who does amazing paw-art, and I think you'll very much enjoy checking out!

You know... my heart just melts every time I see Tenchi and Rain together, and this picture... eeeee! Tenchi using his huge footpaws as a warm, soft blanket for his beloved Rain. First off... here I was thinking foot-pillows would be nice; so are blankets! That would be be so warm and amazing to reach up and feel on you. Second, I love how there's a lot of implied stuff going on like Rain snaking his tail through Tenchi's other toes to tease and tickle him, and Tenchi blushing to keep still amid the tickles, and possibly getting cold himself. Then of course, we are also treated to a very amazing view of Rain's soles as well - in fact, one of the most detailed to date. No matter where you look, this picture is just gushing with beautiful footpaws, sweetness, emotion and quality shading and design. <3 Also... don't forget TideKeeper's sweet Paw-bust Promo mentioned in last week's Paw-Post!

TOTAL random find here, but really hi-res render of Rocket Raccoon from Guardians of the Galaxy! I liked the design of Rocket, and of course hoped the movie would have more good views of his cute footpaws, but alas, not many. This render is the most detailed thing I've seen showing them and they look great! Would love to see more of him done up - kinda surprised in fact that the fandom didn't latch on to him more.

OMG... this is why it's so hard to pick a Most Pawesome some days! This picture is so, so heart-warming and beautifully drawn and shaded. Yeah this one is hard to call because it's the soft, sexy and amazing looking sole of a Collector, from Mass Effect 2/3. It's certainly unique enough to drive to C5, but seems to be a plantigrade sole type. Hard to say, other than either way, holy MOLY is that ever a nice looking sole! Right?! Diablo did an amazing job on it. :)

Some Q&A:

(TC) Thanks for accepting the offer to do the highlight sir! So you've certainly been at stuff in the fandom a while. Do you ever look back on some of your oldest work and marvel at the difference?

(Rooc) Yep! There are still some arts that I've done that still amaze me, even though I've improved since then.

(TC) Oh? Can you provide a couple examples and explain why (if not obvious). :) Just curious.

(Rooc) Something like https://www.furaffinity.net/view/15944453/ and https://www.furaffinity.net/view/15947473/ and even https://www.furaffinity.net/view/15944504/ Although I've improved so much since creating those, and they're far from perfect in terms of anatomy/composition, I still remember how proud I was of them. There are also some stylistic attributes that I wish I could replicate now but have since forgotten exactly how the effect was made haha.

(TC) So how come you have the two nicknames - just like keeping the commissions stuff separate from personal stuff?

(Rooc) Before folders were a thing, we couldn't easily separate personal art from commission work so I made use of an older account to house the comms I've done. We now have folders but I don't feel like taking the time to delete/re-upload to my main account.

(TC) This being the Paw-Post and all, I'll have to ask a few obligatory paw-centric questions! So goes without saying that being on here, you're an artist who I think draws very nice footpaws. So first, off, do you have any interest in feet/paws yourself (and if so, can you explain it?

(Rooc) Yes and no. I enjoy drawing paws/feet for others and sometimes for myself, but as far as being outright attracted to them I'm not too sure right now haha.

(TC) Ha ha... that is the first time anyone's answered "not to sure" about it. So... is there an aspect of them you like in some way besides drawing them, or is it more that you think you might like an aspect of them were they real?

(Rooc) I think it's moreso the idealistic fantasy of them that in real life lose the charm, if that makes any sense? I'm just a bit particular about it and I don't really know how to explain it haha but I do love paws in art/fantasy.

(TC) As you said yourself, you really draw a variety of stuff - when it comes to footpaws I would say that's certainly VERY true because a look through your gallery (on the Fly account shows SO many different styles of feet from C1 to C5), do you have a particular type you like moreso than others? Why?

(Rooc) If I had to pick, I'd say I really enjoy drawing C4 and C5 type paws - I love paw pads and I love dragon/monstery/alien types! Pads are fun to draw and can be soft or rough, and fantasy-type feet come in so many shapes and sizes - it keeps me on my toes haha. But C1, C2, and C3 however are still fun of course!

(TC) I think I first noticed your art back a few years ago when you were doing a bunch of paw-icons for folks. Is that what started leaning you towards drawing paws more, or was that just one of many standard things you were doing (and still do)?

(Rooc) I honestly can't remember haha I believe I was testing the waters as it came to feet/paws to see if it was something people liked/tolerated, as I was a tad shy about my more "unconventional" interests back then. But a lot of people seemed to like it to the point of commissioning me for them, so it just kinda went from there!

(TC) What would you say is the favourite type or style or theme of commission to get? (can be paw related or not) Why?

(Rooc) For paws, wiggly toes with curled toes is usually my go-to thing because it shows flexibility and it's fun to draw. I also do comms focusing on open mouths, and I love the ones that want micros added in. So far I haven't had a paw comm with a micro but might draw one myself to advertise that this is a thing haha.

(TC) And what's your least favourite thing to have to draw? :)

(Rooc) So far, I'm not sure yet! I haven't done a comm that I didn't really like.

(TC) And last one - the usual send-off; is there anything you would like to say to the folks on the Paw-Post and your many fans?

(Rooc) I appreciate you guys so much and love drawing paws for everyone! You're continued support is wonderful - thank you guys so much ^^
