Maaaaaaaasive pride festival that takes over the entire city and has parades and is amazing

Well its not a "pride" festival strictly speaking. Traditionally its a festival held for a week before the beginning of Lent. Lent being the Christian observance of the weeks leading up to Easter. Traditionally your are supposed to fast, or abstain from pleasurable things during this period. So....Mardi Graas is supposed to be a big party where you eat, drink, and get freaky right before going into the Lent season and abstinence. It is also associated with the term "Fat Tuesday", the final biggest day of Mardi Graas, with Lent beginning the next day on Ash Wednesday.

Yeah its party party party because after Lent until Easter its no partying

Correct, but I believe that (at least in America) Fat Tuesday has passed a few weeks ago, so why is it still being celebrated now? maybe a different Australian tradition?

If partying and parading and getting to go on a float makes me a slut then so be it!

Mardi Gras? here in Luisiana we had it a few weeks ago, unfortunatley I hate it because of the two trashiest words in existence... Public. Intoxication... So wait, you have Mardi Gras In Australia? what's the history?

No, it takes place all over the world. Probably the most famous destination is New Orleans.
