CBM hilarity - 'A new "era" of R-rated comic book movies'
"Critics have spoken! Deadpool KILLS ANY AND ALL Disney MCU flicks, and you'll never be able to beat how incredible of a film it's gonna be.
Deadpool shows how superhero films need to be made now. Audiences don't want childish MCU Disney garbage, they want dark, violent, gritty superhero flicks, and the humor needs to be in line with what adults actually laugh at."
GOOD GOD, SHUT THE HELL UP!!!!!!! THIS IS WHY PEOPLE HATE HARDCORE FANBOYS!
"But I get the feeling this may just be the tip of the iceberg. If and when these other R-rated CBMs see similar success, more will certainly follow, at which point, Marvel Studios knows they'll have to adjust their strategy in order to compete and stay atop the CBM food chain. What this means is Marvel Studios will perhaps start dipping their toes in R-rated CBMs aimed for adults in addition to their "flagship" films aimed for a wider audience similar to what Fox is doing right now"
So Marvel Studios is gonna bend over and take the ass, going to the lowest common denominator just to keep up their success, make everything R-rated to get more attention. Wow.... just wow.
Guys, if I had a dollar for every time I've heard this crap going on, I'd enough to buy all my friends here steak dinners.
I know I should ignore these idiots, they're in a very slim minority and think they're superior for saying this. I know, I should. But there are people so insecure with themselves, and ashamed to be comic book fans they think they are 'kiddie', they'll spread this mindset to others, and I can't let that pass.
STUPIDITY WILL BREED MORE STUPIDITY. And I just can't stand for that.
This is coming straight from the heart, Marvel Studios. You've done EXCELLENT with what you put out, sans Iron Man 3. You guys ARE being mature, blending dark and humor. You made the characters I grew up with come on the big screen, and I hope you keep doing it. Please don't be like Nolan, who made this dumbass mindset that everything has to be dark and gritty. And don't listen to certain fanboys who spouts the nonsense above, that's how crap like Spider-man 3 happens.
Thanks for your time

You can NOT make an R-Rated Captain America film; I'd rather have a fun, adventurous tale than Saving Private Ryan with Chris Evans being superhero and trying to come to terms with the fact he is in hell.
That's dumb.
And for the people that hate the Disney MCU, I want you to realize something...
The comic industry,t he faces of these characters, the appeal has BOOMED. These are just not films for children, but adults love them too- myself included. They capture what comic books are, pure fun and adventure in a world greater than the real one. They bring us these people who we idolize, despise, pity, and adore. They are greater than us,b ut we find facets of ourselves in them. That is the joy of the films. That's what makes them so damn good, because it's pure fun.
And I've been saying this for YEARS, the MCU films ain't just for kids, it's a perfect blend. Hell, my old Aunt has a crush on Thor recently for crying out loud.
*high fives you* Jeager, we need to hang out more.
Edit: I realized that you mentioned Spiderman 3 in your journal, and I think we can all agree people hated it (possibly more for the large percentage of asshole-goth-emo Toby Maguire than its attempt at R-rated stuff)
(SPOILERS)
The actual storytelling, the fact that they spent over half the movie just explaining and providing exposition was really boring, and the main conflict was Deadpool forgetting his guns when he took out several dozen guys with guns he could've used? There was hardly a conflict at all! Even the main bad guy's attempt to kill his girl was shot down in like, two seconds by cracking the glass? It was really fucking anticlimatic and you could already tell Deadpool wasn't going to lose the fight because he's goddamn immortal.
Personally I would've liked to see them take a page out of the whole "Deadpool kills the entire marvel universe" comic where he says explicitly something along the lines of "If I were going to be contained, I would do something like this" (This, being a device that hurts him at the same rate he regenerates. I believe it was flamethrowers in the comic.) THATS a conflict. THAT requires people to come in and help. THAT requires some kind of creativity. THAT would actually give something to struggle against besides the shitty feeling of not looking beautiful anymore.
And yeah, I doubt Marvel Studio's are gonna lube themselves up good to take it in the ass from the success of this movie. They might test things out, but Deadpool hardly revolutionized anything. The only thing making it R rated was the constant overuse of dick jokes and the word "fuck," mixed in with some gore now and then. It's not some breakthrough in cinematic culture, it's just really fucking good marketing with a movie that panders to a massive cult audience that's accumulated as of recent. I prefer normal marvel movies anyday over Deadpool, except Iron Man 2. that wasnt very good
And yeah, Deadpool didn't revolutionize anything, you're right. But I DO get why he's a popular character.
Like I said, Iron Man 3 was the only MCU film I despise.
Deadpool's going to make the less skilled companies try some poorer moves and maybe shunt some characters who would be PG/PG13 into R rated territory, instead of picking and choosing what is apt. Marvel isn't going to fall into that trap easily, when they're already realizing what works for them. (Though I won't lie; they could totally get away with doing a couple mainline R-Rated films should they use the right characters for it. Blade: reboot would especially use it well)
