Zootopia is SOOOOO GOOOD
(no spoilers)
Ya'll are furries so you were probably going to see it anyway but if you had any doubts before I HIGHLY recommend the film. I had no complaints story and character-wise. The emotions and messages of the film are really strong and speak to current issues of today. I couldn't help but cry and I ain't a sap. It could have easily been a live action film but I think the use of anthropomorphic animals was smart as well as fun. Also the humor is really good??? Like the animation and jokes are well thought out and while some are blatant and fun many others were subtle acting choices.
Also one of the directors was at our screening. Someone asked, "Did Nick and Julie also end up together as friends in the end?" which he replied "Yes, though we never considered a romance. Friendships can be stronger and more interesting" and the room (mostly girls) applauded loudly
I heard that some people in the furry community were like, "did they make this film for us?" Which I would say no, but then a remembered the Shakira tigers. So well,
there's probably a few people at Disney who would waggle their eyebrows in this direction.
If I owned a movie theatre I would like... make a "Furry Friday" where for one day on a 11pm screening if you came in a fursuit your ticket would be free. I think it would be fun, and I like endorsing sub-cultures.
Also I am a LITTLE worried because my student film this year overlaps in some story points with Zootopia. At this point it's nothing I can change, I just didn't expect a Disney movie to also explore the darker worldbuilding of furries. If I made this film last year I would be safe, but since it will come out after this film I just have to hope people don't think I took some ideas :/
PS don't do anything unsavory to any of the characters please, I think they are precious and shouldn't be corrupted :(
