"It's a great movie!" ... "STFU!!!!!!!!!"

I'm sure you guys have experienced or at least heard about that thing that happens when people hype something really hard, and it just makes you more and more determined never to experience it. I had a new thought about it, though:
What if this happens because my decision is already made? Would it happen if I had never heard of the film/song/game?
What I mean is, if there's a particular game for instance, and I've heard about it and decided it wasn't something I was interested in, then it makes sense that hearing endless hype would make me hate it more and more. Then it wouldn't really be about stubbornly deciding "other people don't know what's good" as much as a feeling of "stop nagging, I already decided it wasn't for me!"
But if I'd never heard about it, and my first time hearing about a game or a movie comes from a friend who says it's amazing, I think it would be more appealing than something I'd already passed up. Maybe?

You hear about so much that it actually makes you less likely to see it/experience it for yourself. I mean, it's a very silly reason to dislike something, especially if you've haven't experienced it yourself. I mean, it's like me never really experiencing any Star Wars films. I hear that they're good, but I never seen one, so I can't judge on what I don't see.
Though some people have other reasons for not getting into things. Like in one of past journals, it was about Undertale and one of people said he doesn't think that it's good because of the rabid fanbase, and holds a grudge over them because their game got outvoted by players of the game, but he never played the game before so it's a silly reason to me. A kinda "Hitler Ate Sugar" thing. Another one didn't like it based off of seeing gameplay by a let's player. But the person also, never played it and experience it themselves.
The thing is, you have to experience it yourself to give your verdict. I mean, I know that (That certain movie here) that was seen by a majority of others says it's good, but I have to experience it myself to see if it lives up to it's hype or not.
If you like it, cool! If ya don't, hey that's also cool. ^^

Like remember the hype for skryrim?
The hype for Elder scrolls online?
The hype for halo 4.
The hype for division?
Its better to me when I don't hear about something, like the deadpool movie. Had no hype from my friends but when I saw it I liked it a lot. People hyped star wars and it was ok.
Deadpool isn't a genre that I care about- Star Wars is fun, but I don't LOVE it or take it very seriously.
