you could also look into how to add your signature to the actual file info. . somethung like encrypting it if it's a preference you can put into the file itself, a watermark also works as well. signature too

Dang. That really sucks that happened. I'm considering putting signatures to prevent art theft. I do at times worry about when shady people try to steal our art.
