I've done this in the past myself (having someone take my stuff to a few cons in the States that i couldn't attend) and there's absolutely no issue with someone selling your artwork in your name. All it needs is a clear note that you're the artist. If people aren't sure about the validity they can always contact you to verify :)

There isn't an option for "I don't mind if they're not there- finding good art is awesome either way"

I recommend doing this. Lots of artists do it. Even thou I think you should go to a convention at least once or twice to get a proper feel for prices and or atmosphere and current trends, I know a few who already do this such as ChumBucket and Rukis, even Redrusker. The only thing thats really scary is not knowing if your pictures made reserve or are even current with the particular Convention goers. Being at con while selling is nice cause you can anonymously walk in and see how your auctions are going.(But if you cant go see if someone going can keep tabs for you) Usually Con staff is very businesslike with the tax documents and other things with the Auction Den they are very prompt about return mailing prints that dont sell and I believe they do money order for the money fee.

Pictures not handled by the artist personally are handled by the artist's "agent" the exact same way as someone would handle their own. In this case I will be Aki's agent (in case of panel sharing the "main artist" owning that panel will be the agent automatically).

So I will take them to Berlin, hang them, pick up unsold pieces and revenue afterwards etc, exactly like I will do with my own pieces. The only difference is that the bid/info sheets will have Aki's name and buyers will be given his contacts instead of mine.
