Doom (2016) - Open Beta & DLC
General
Well it looks like if you missed out on the closed beta for the new Doom, it doesn't really matter! According to this Gamespot article (and several similar articles from other gaming sites), an open beta is on the way soon. And not surprisingly at all, some DLC for the finished game is on the way too.
-Open Beta Details-
The open beta starts at 12 AM EST on April 15th and ends at 11:59 PM EST on April 17th. It seems to offer the same exact content as the closed beta: it's available for the PS4, Xbone and PC, lets you play Team Deathmatch or Warpath, and has Heatwave and Infernal as the two playable maps. It's unknown if any additional weapons or armor customization options will be available compared to the closed beta.
-DLC & Season Pass-
Don't shoot the messenger. I just report this stuff. XD
So yeah, there's gonna be DLC. There will be some free updates for multiplayer and SnapMap, but there's also three premium DLC packs.
Currently, all the DLC that's been announced is only for multiplayer. The first pack includes:
-Three new maps
-One new weapon
-One new playable demon
-One new armor set
-One new piece of equipment
-New hack modules and taunts
-New customization colors and patterns
Presumably the other two will offer similar additions. Each DLC pack will cost $14.99/£11.99/€14.99. A season pass will also be available for $39.99/£29.99/€39.99.
Now I've mostly been positive about the new Doom and I usually tend to keep my opinions out of these news articles, but this DLC stuff sounds bad. I was really hoping for some new singleplayer content, but instead it's just a bunch of shockingly overpriced MP packs (with exclusive guns!) and a season pass that offers a pathetic discount. If you wanna complain about the new Doom seeming like Call of Duty, this is where to level those complaints.
Remember when you could buy Doom 3's expansion pack, Resurrection of Evil, and it came with a brand-new campaign with new weapons, power-ups and enemies, and a new MP mode with 8 new maps, and it was all for roughly half the price of the main game? Looks like those days are well and truly over.

FA+

I have no idea what singleplayer will be like, and I don't think anyone does. I hope it's good.
And they showed some videos of the singleplayer at last year's E3. It doesn't look extraordinarily different from the multiplayer, except you shoot demons, who're slower and dumber but more numerous than human opponents, and you have a full complement of weapons to choose from instead of just a two-gun loadout.
Then there's me, who's divided between being a Doom completionist and making sure I have absolutely all the content, and realizing this is an obvious, lazy cash-grab to exploit the players. Argh. XD
