Late Night Ramble from a Bat
Good evening guys! I felt the need to spill some of my thoughts into writing and in a place where it would stay and I could look back on it in the future. I'll make this personal and start with how I got into this wonderful animal-loving fandom in the first place <3
Well for the most part I was always a furry. Of course I didn't know what a furry was until a few years ago, but at heart I always was. Anyway, since I was little I had been fascinated with animals and loved wearing costumes everywhere I went. It drove my parents crazy! I always wanted to have a tail so my parents dressed me in a tiger costume every day. As I grew I eventually grew out of wearing a costume each and everyday, though I never lost my dream of having a tail or being an animal.
Fast forward to 8th grade in my English class. My best friend had brought a book to school that was a "how to draw furries book". At the time I didn't really know what a furry was, but I thought it was a sort of gross, sex thing. I kind of joked and made fun of it to my friend. We laughed it off but as time went by I found myself loving looking through the book and seeing her anthropomorphic art. That was the first time I was formally introduced to the word "furry" and what it stood for. I didn't know back then that there was an entire community based around it. It wouldn't be until the next year that I learned about the fandom.
Now between 8th and 9th grade I got an Instagram because my friends thought I would like it to share my art with. I did, and met so many cool people and artists. Now one of my favorite artist, who I don't care for anymore, drew so many anthro characters. Because back then I was lame and cringey I wanted to draw just like her, so I started drawing anthro animals. Soon I found myself following fursuit accounts and being mesmerized by the beautiful suits and wanting to own one one day. Time passed and my anthro art improved and my love and knowledge of the furry fandom grew.
Now look at me- pure furry trash.
