Oculus Rift GET!
General
So, I'm one of the early Kickstarter backers of the original Oculus Rift dev kit. Incidentally, the final consumer version of the Oculus Rift just shopped and they kindly gave me a free pre-ordered full edition of it at no charge. It came in a few days ago, I'm so happy.
It came with a fancy new Xbox One controller - yay, I guess? and EVE: Valkyrie, and a bunch of other little free apps and demos.
Naturally, I just spent the last three days watching old movies I missed like Wreck-It-Ralph in 3D in the comfort of my own private virtual movie theater. The BIG big screen.
Most of the official Oculus experiences are "standing" experiences, so my legs are all sore now. :(
And all of the old Oculus Rift DK1 and DK2 games I liked, like Time Rifters, aren't compatible with the consumer version -- the latest SDK requires an upgrade from Unity 4 to Unity 5, which apparently some games just can't do or otherwise lose features in the transition of. So even though I have games on Steam I've played in the original Oculus Dev Kit with a Razer Hydra, they can't be played in VR now. Disappointment...
Hopefully more games and toys and experiences will get upgraded for me to enjoy soon. Right now the best thing in the launch lineup looks like Elite: Dangerous, which I'm just not interested in.
In the meantime, more movies!
Got any suggestions for good, quality entertainment I should totally catch up on?
