Aye just saw that a little bit ago. Sucks, first David Bowie, now him. For what people say about him he was a pretty good guitarist and had quite a few big hits, Little Red Corvette, Purple Rain, When Doves Cry. Was definitely one of those artists people made fun of ya for liking, but everyone knows at least one of his songs.
