Question About Telegram

Why do people use it?....
This is like, the worst messenger I've ever tried!
No Buddy List, No way to stop incoming messages from people you don't know, no profiles, barely avatars, no calling.
Doesn't even ask for a password, it claims to be super safe and secure but doesn't ask for a password!
Is it a phone thing? Is it convenient for people with phones? Because on a computer this is just the worst. lol
Maybe I'm being too critical. I mean it's not a big deal, I don't open it often, but I am genuinely confused why it's so popular.

Also you can block people, but I don't believe you can do that until they've messaged to you which I can understand can be annoying.
Simply put, it's just for a chat and chat alone without all the additional crap that Skype tends to include which slows up your PC and your phone
I guess
Still a bummer about the whole "No blocking until they've sent you a jillion links."
My personal gripe is that it shows pictures automatically, which is no good when dealing with unvetted potential customers who happen to have no restraint when presenting examples of subject matter.
There is a buddy list as well, which is admittedly a pain. I never figured out how to do it from PC, but on android you "Share my contact" and they can add you that way. Or vice versa.
No calling I never saw as an issue, I never understood why all the IMs were adding that.
But ultimately if you don't like it, why have it?
I.e. skype. When active, eats almost 50% lf my battery just from being started on my phone over the course of a few hours. Telegram, however, runs nearly 2 days with me needing to charge, as an example.
but i love it for the gifs, stickers and bots personally haha
It's also completely free.
Stickers alone are one of the greatest innovations in chatting since ICQ invented the instant messenger.
If you were under the impression Skype is secure: http://www.zdnet.com/article/1168-k.....chinese-users/
What's an Emoji?
They barely work at all Skype, AIM, etc.

Emoji are unique characters that are depicted as a graphical image, like these cherries. 🍒

Must be a new thing for 2016, because I've never heard the word "Emoji" before in my life, they were always called Emoticons.
And things like ":3" never had a name, it was just text.
Definition: A word created because the word emoticon became too widely used.
Similar to how "Guestimate" became a word because people felt estimate and guess were being used too much.
<--- Not a fan of stupid portmanteaus or hipster words.
Its much more secure than whatsapp (end to end encryption) and it has adorable stickers.
there are settings for everything, block unknown users, block online status. buddy list is also possible. but mainly on the phone.
i would say the computer client is just for people that also own the phone version. its also secure enough, they send you a code per sms if you want to log in and you can even set multiple more security settings.
stickers you can draw yourself, animated gifs instant when posted, and fluid picture and sharing options makes telegram for the phone super fun and its my fav over all other phone messangers.
every sticker set and gif can be shared instant and copied at sight - its super fun and viral.
seems like a lot people just take a 5 minute look at a cheap computer version and than hate it and uninstall. sorry but its actaully the most fun messanger i ever had.
if you want to voice chat u stick with skype or discord. its not a stand alone messanger. but the best for what i like it. i got skype and telegram on my phone for example.
i mean seriously. im not going to get another skype when i already have one. I have enough messengers to take care of xD
even so , skype is being and will be my main messanger app at least on my pc. just beacuse im use to it and everyone use it
Discord, in the other hand, while it's still immature and still lacks a lot of features due to its short age (like changing the font size or sorting your friends in groups), does try to be a replacement for both Skype and TeamSpeak.
That said, I can't wait 'til people move out from Skype. I don't like it.
I remember my old MSN Messenger and I wish I had that back. lol
