So something just happened that I feel would be... entertaining to share.
My Grandmother and infant cousin are staying a few nights with us; and a storm is rolling through tonight. I'm minding my own business when my internet craps out on me. I troubleshoot, check the wi-fi and indeed, the router died and reset. I go downstairs to confirm this, at two in the morning, with a sleeping Grandmother and seven-month-old. Successfully I tiptoe past them and to the router not three feet away from their air mattress and confirm, YES, the router has reset and is attempting to reestablish a connection.
I tiptoe back upstairs and contemplate what to do next. I cannot sleep without some kind of coherent noise, so my options are limited. Computer is out since it requires internet for Youtube, and the disk drive is poo and likes to stay closed at ALL TIMES. Phone is out because my 4G data connection only stays on the front half of my room, and 3G would buffer for five minutes on a fifteen minute video - not to mention its inability to reliably keep track of playlists. And then it strikes me: The Xbox doesn't require an internet connection, and it has a disk drive that behaves! MY PRAYERS HAVE BEEN ANSWERED! But wait... I don't have any DvDs up here... I'll have to conduct another mission!
Downstairs I again creep, tiptoeing as quietly as my 300 lb. frame will allow and SOMEHOW manage to circle the air mattress and get to the DvD shelf, pull out Pirates of the Caribbean 2 and quickly retreat upstairs. I sit down and turn my Xbox on, wait for it to boot and decide to run the troubleshooter again... and I see a fully loaded webpage, a Skype icon that doesn't indicate connection loss, and a fully buffered video by Tear of Grace...
So in summary, I somehow managed to sneak past an elderly woman and an infant, TWICE, to be able to reliably sleep, and return to find my ENTIRE endeavor for naught. So the moral of the story, kids?

Yeah, the weather will always get to you. Still an achievement, even if it was for naught. ^-^
