I'm Back! + 8 (24??) Facts
So, after my PC being dead for the past month, I'm finally back on my own computer. Not a whole lot to say on the subject, really >.>
So anyway, I was actually tagged in one of those journal meme thingies by
Chances, so even those it's well overdue at this point, I figured I'm comply. Since I don't know enough people who haven't already participated or been tagged in this, I'm going to forgo tagging others. When I asked Chances what character out of my rather large stable of characters he would want me to do 8 facts on, he said either Talion, Brekkik, or Onicha. Since I took so long to get to this and because I won't be tagging others on it, I'll just do 8 facts on all three.
8 Facts About Talion
1) As my sona, Talion has a tendency to change in minor ways over time due to personal tastes and the like, though some things will remain the same. Dragons are my favorite mythical creature, so he'll always be a dragon. Blue, Black, and Sillver are my favorite colors, so he'll always have those colors attributed to him in some fashion. My odd fondness of the number 5 will also be reflected in the number of horn sets he has, which will be an upcoming change whenever I find an artist to do an updated reference sheet for him.
2 Some changes to Talion's physical traits are also inspired by ways different artists portray him. I tend to generally be a little more open to artistic freedom when an artist draws him over other characters for this reason. Sometimes an artist will do something with him that I like better than what's portrayed in my current reference.
3) In some respects, Talion tends to borrow some traits from other characters, making him a sort of amalgamation of these characters. Or perhaps those characters are derived from bits of himself. It can be hard to say sometimes.
4) Sort of like a magical Ant-Man, Talion can alter his size as a situation demands, though he is much more limited to his minimum and maximum sizes. While I haven't decided on a maximum size, his minimum is around the size of a Shetland Pony.
5) Although his kobold form is recent art-wise, it's something I'd considered for around a year before actually following through on. As a kobold, Talion tends to be a little taller than average for the species, and maintains his natural coloring and markings.
6) Talion may or may not exist in his own world setting. I created the world of Aurenil around ideas I developed while creating more of a character for Talion (as opposed to the sona, which is just a representation of myself). However, as I've been developing this world setting, I've started toying with the idea of Talion Silvercloud being more of a folk character than an actual dragon that existed in the setting. I've also played with the idea of him being a character generally considered a folk character, with some evidence to point that he may have existed sometime in the world's history. I'm still undecided what route I'll go with it though.
7) Talion in Aurenil, be he real or not, is a bit of the solitary mad inventor type, though not so much solitary due to the fact that while he doesn't live amongst other dragons, he does keep a clan of kobolds and possibly a modest harem consisting of a few other of Aurenil's species. He also has Ryx as his assistant, so he's rarely alone.
8) The floating continent upon which Talion invented and resides is heavily inspired EverQuest's Plane of Sky and Bioshock Infinite's Columbia, while also playing with a little Atlantis imagery. The miniature continent consists of three huge floating rings of landmass consisting of natural woodlands and wetlands, a massive kobold city, and Talion's lair in the center. The continent's name, Tizze'niv is a corruption of tizzem niv, which in turn is Niv Mizzet backwards. Niv-Mizzet is the name of the dragon genius of Magic: The Gathering's Ravinca setting.
8 Facts About Brekkik
1) Brekkik was the first character I ever played online, starting with the original EverQuest and becoming something of a gaming identity I still use today. Brekkik as a character though is developed entirely with his EverQuest 2 incarnation.
2) Although Brekkik and Skai often refer to each other as siblings, they aren't related by blood. Skai took him in off the street and 'adopted' him. As most iksar (as I roleplay them anyway) aren't naturally inclined to keep familial bonds, Brekkik and Skai's brother/sister relationship is more of a servant/master relationship, though the two do seem to display a certain fondness for one another.
3) While Brekkik held a good reputation as he grew up, that reputation was mostly due to his association with others. His sister Skai was a natural shadowknight well ahead of her class with rumors that she may even be one of the first iksar to be considered for entry into the Overlord's elite Wraithguard. He was considered a close friend to Onicha, a brilliant mind who was at the time was controlling magic more advanced than even some of her teachers could cast. Finally, his combat instructor Ssilyn was highly respected by the iksar of Freeport's Scale Yard to the point where some would even consider him a pillar of their community and a protector of "The Old Ways."
4) Despite all this, or perhaps because of it, Brekkik regularly felt inadequate to the point where he would begin using his status as a junior cadet of the Freeport Militia to regularly go out and savagely beat suspected members of gangs that weren't themselves aligned with the Militia. Given the politics and societal views of the time, this only helped to further Brekkik's reputation, especially among those of the Militia.
5) Though he was considerably active in the Scale Yard's breeding scene, Brekkik only has one surviving offspring. All others were 'executed' (more accurately, lynched) when news of Skai's betrayal became widespread. Brekkik was still understood to be Skai's sister at the time, and there were fears that her treachery could be hereditary. Brekkik himself was only spared this fate due to Militia protection. He was kept as an on-duty guard on the aptly named Isle of Refuge until the violence died down and it was deemed safe for him to return to the city where he was made to in the militia barracks until his departure from the city.
6) Brekkik joined The Cult of Lust (later rebuilt and expanded as The Order of Tholuxe Paells) at his sister's request. She was against the idea herself until she was told that she would be unable to enter without his participation. Then she became suddenly insistent that he join.
7) Brekkik does have a natural talent of his own. In his youth, he proved to have a natural knack for cooking, to the point where Skai would regularly put him in charge of making meals. He still displays this talent as an adult, though he rarely cooks for others.
8) Brekkik's favorite hobby is tinkering. Lately, he's had a fondness of finding interesting ways to hide weapons in objects.
8 Facts About Onicha
1) Onicha never graduated from the Academy of Arcane Sciences. She dropped out when her instructors began pressuring her to drop her research into Tholuxe Paells.
2) Onicha took a job as a maid for Skai when she was trying to gather more information on Tholuxe Paells. She's been a family friend ever since.
3) Although Brekkik technically owns Onicha's bordello, The Rose & Thorn, everyone there acknowledges Onicha as the one who is really in charge, Despite her own job title there being lead hostess and caretaker, she also exclusively handles the interviewing and hiring or new employees, the acquisition of refreshments domestic and smuggled, and dealing with issues that arise among the employees.
4) Onicha is only my second character to become betrothed to another. She has built a family with her fiancé Baxter and their adopted children Maztil and Sselka.
5) Onicha became leader of The Order of Tholuxe Paells after Skai's exile from Freeport, but not without contest. She was among a few other worthy candidates for the role who were all tasked for proving themselves to be best for the leadership position. After several rituals and trials, Onicha won out. However, some believe she was only chosen because she would have been the one appointed anyway if Skai had the ability to do so. This has resulted in some rifts within her chapter and some harsher than usual criticism of her leadership.
6) In her later teens, Onicha often experimented with magic that she could use to induce someone into heat. Using herself as the test subject, one of her early attempts caused a massive negative feedback that resulted in ultimately rendering her incapable of having children naturally. Ashamed of her infertility, she eventually completed the spell and now uses it to force herself into an estrus-like state on a natural timeframe.
7) Onicha has always seen the sorceress Najena as a personal role model and strives to one day surpass her in power and notoriety.
8) Despite her ambitious aspirations, Onicha rarely leaves the relative safety of Freeport. To supplement her research, she'll often request Brekkik to acquire certain items for her when she sends him on courier runs between the other Order branches, resulting in at least one complaint of her leadership (misuse of Order resources for personal gain) to be true.
