Well mine turned up less than 24 hours later. Sadly it turned up at my loca post office rather than my home so I had to wait till the next day to pick it up but now I'm up, running, ripping and tearing!

I'm mainly waiting to see what people think of SP. Nothing negative so far.

I'm expecting something kinda Halo-y, but violent and tough as nails. Time will tell if it holds up to the first two games.

And don't forget about that stupid, awful movie! That thing is a wretched abomination.

I mean, I don't have much Halo experience -- I played the co-op campaigns of Reach and 4 with my boyfriend once -- but I didn't get much of a Halo vibe from the new Doom. Since you can carry all the weapons in your inventory at the same time, choosing the right weapon on the fly for the right opponents is crucial -- something you can't really do in Halo. Halo also seems to have a stronger emphasis on extremely large arenas and long-range engagements, whereas the new Doom is about moderately-sized arenas where stuff is always chasing you down and getting right up in your face (and you turn right back punch their faces in). It's extremely frantic and visceral, and more tactical than one might imagine. Plus, there's lots of exploration and character building stuff, if you feel like bothering with it.

All in all, I adore the game. :)

About halfway through and I agree. Not really like Halo. Just seemed that way from watching people play the multiplayer beta.

It's more of its own thing, and I like that
