BLFC, Gratitude, Hackers, and Social Media
9 years ago
Well okay! I guess a lot of stuff has happened in the past week or so.
First of all, BLFC was an absolute blast! I had my new portable drawing rig with me, which is a brand-spankin' new Surface Pro 4 connected to an ancient Wacom Bamboo Fun. Yeah, that's an odd combination, but for whatever reason using the on-screen drawing sinks my skill level down to like "dumb 5-year-old with a crayon" level. I'm comfortable with an external wacom, and I can draw reasonable well on paper, but any on-scree drawing device I've ever tried to use is just disaster. I've tried the Surface, the iPad Pro, the Cintiq Companion... None of them work for me. So I guess I'll just stick to using an external Wacom.
This also meant that I was able to do some digital drawing there at the con (see my recent Moose Bros pic), and also upload sketchbook sketches directly from the con (these got bulldozed by the rollback here, but can still be found on my personal site).
I was also kind of bowled over by how many people were coming up to me with a "hey, I love your art", which makes me feel all super-squishy inside.. There's usually one or two, but at this BLFC there were a good half-dozen or so (and even one delivered by Nintendo DS Street-Pass). I can't thank people enough for this! It warms the cockles of my cold, perverted heart.
The recent hacker kerfuffle here has finally pushed me past my breaking point on resistance to social media. Yep, I've signed up for a Twitter account:
https://twitter.com/NaniMoose
This is going to be a place not for (much) personal gab, but a feed that gets notices whenever I post art.. and since that's all porn, I've made it a private feed. So follow it if you want notifications of new Nani art banged directly into your twitter-holes. I also plan on signing up for Telegram soon, since a lot of my existing social circles seem to be migrating there.
And no past-FA-downtime journal would be complete without a list of where else to find me on the web...
A full archive of my art can always be found on my personal site: http://nanimoose.furryhome.com/
And the finished pieces (but not so many of the sketches and scraps) are also posted to Weasyl: https://www.weasyl.com/~nanimoose

FA+

Hope to do a con thing some day. We're having one the week of Halloween just 30-45 minutes from my home (FangCon).. I think that will be the one. It sounds like a pretty disorganized mess though *laugh* so it may be one of those "never again" experiences. I can't imagine anyone recognizing me and saying "I love your art" I bet that's a freaking rush.
Cons can be fun! Do try to plan ahead and get plans to meet up with at least a couple folks before you go, especially to your first one.
I am soooo unfamiliar with Twitter. How do people solely post on there? It doesn't seem very art gallery like.
Ahaha, I saw this group of girls at BLFC, where they were trying to get onto the go-kart track.. these two teenagers in partial canine fursuits were just bouncing off the walls, and a lady more my age was trying to get tickets. She just turns to me and says "dog-mom is TIRED."
As for your situation, have you tried living in not-Alabama? :]
Moving would be insanity o_o
If I were single, that would be a whole other story. I'd probably live in a van haha
