What I meant is that I use that one unique password for this site and this site only cause I know how shitty it is ;)

I still can't belive there's people who don't use password managers. It's mind boggling.

What if you want to access your accounts in another computer or any kind of system where you don't have your manager? Plus, if something happens to your computer and you need to access your stuff from somewhere else, you might be screwed. I get why some people prefer using password managers, but each person has their own reasons for using or not using them. It's not "mind boggling" at all that not everyone likes those programs.

You keep the database backed up on a USB drive somewhere safe. And if youre worried about safety and security you DON'T LOGIN ON COMPUTERS YOU DONT OWN anyway.

Probably slightly better off for the downtime =3 I was going to take a break from drawing hard for a few days anyway, the downtime just brought it forwards a bit, got a contact form set up too (to try and deal with hard-to-contact commissioners ), and fixed the coding on my commission info page, plus churned out another larger commish.
So it was a really productive downtime XD Only lost... one uploaded picture I think? So nbd.

Nah. It always happen. Fa goes down, people flip, the site goes up, they overload it and cry it dies seconds after. And patience could lead us to more peaceful state of mind. :) Not to mention it was done okay and fast. I too was in need of taking commissions, having no money, and then the site died for good. And I wasn't as annoying as some people. I do make a living in here too. But I also understand how exhausting it is to bring big site online and cover all these security holes. Yo.

If you're worried about losing followers or whatever, you can always just be active on multiple sites. That way, people who like your art can jump over if one of the sites tanks. Might be an extra minute or two of effort to post art, but worth it for the redundancy I'd think.

Given how large but non-corporate this website is, I think it was handled about as well as it could have been. It's more upsetting to me that someone would do what they did in the first place. It'd be one thing to expose the security issues, but to take and abuse the personal details of the users is unfair.

It's also not a problem that's likely to be resolved by switching to another site. If another site DOES become the top site, it will eventually face the same issues. So, yeah. :( I won't be leaving. I just feel bad for anyone having to be held responsible to a site as large and diverse as this one, because I feel like no matter who is at the top, the issues will be similar. :X

honestly loosing art and stuff is a big thing but I kinda think fa is taking unnecessary precotions ... and its kinda turning me away...
all this has caused unneeded commotion leading to a flood of furs causing them to disable the nuke button i rather press a button and be done with it rather than 2... and then i had to rest my password and fight with the new log in item.. im bad at that thingy and it took 3 tries once i got my password changed. i wish they'd get it over with and let us beeeee >.<

Still here but i made an account on furrynetwork cause im slowly loosing my taste even more for FA if they cant keep things running. I love their import tool so , i have everything backed up there incase FA fails to recover from the next attack. Whiiiiiiiiich i know is going to happen probably pretty soon knowing people that dont have anything better to do with their lives.
i know i have more of a chance to get art here...but its nice to have back up incase this old timer does kick the bucket via next attack.

I got mine back. For a minute I thought FA was still in trouble since it wasn't letting me log in with my old password, and I never received an email saying that they reset my password (which I really think they should have done).

The auto-import into FurryNetwork is faaaantastic, it'll at least make your past gallery available to everyone there if FA goes down again. Of course your art is fantastic so I'll be looking for it anywhere I can find it :D

Going to stay on here but also going to keep other sites more up to date in the event FA goes down [which we all know happens more than we'd like.]

Going to keep my gallery here alive, but I'll be leaning more heavily on other gallery sites and twitter for my commissions. I've got my FA account details permanently quarantined now but there's no way in hell I'll let my income bank on it. It'll just be another hub that people can use to find me and that's it.

Was just lucky that I recently went through a stent of paranoia and already had my passwords all over the place. Saved me a lot of time and stress that I redirected into starting and filling new galleries.

I can't say I'm alive, because I'm a zombie, after all. BUT I'm still here. XD

I don't want to add to the drama and I will try to keep my gallery here since it's a huge collection, but what I'm more worried about is you guys, since you're the reason I'm here.
You can import your FA stuff to FurryNetwork using the import feature. It is good for a backup in case things go wild again. The FN import will keep things as clean and organized as you have them on FA. However notes don't import (obvious) and comments as well gallery comments I do not think import. Mostly gallery content only and favorites in some conditions.

No reason to leave though, but I think may start to mirror favorites and comments on art to other sites. Comments maybe questionable as could be annoying to artists. Will see in time.

I almost didn't make it, took me a real long time to get back in and it was frustrating. If I wasn't worried about some of my characters getting lost I would have just given up but I'm pretty sure at least one of my girls has all her art stored here and she's my new sona.

its not just people not remembering their emails, fa lost some of the emails too because I know what email I used for my main, I even still have the verification email they sent me when I made the account and it says that its not the email I used for it but I'm 100% sure it is because I don't have another email I'd use for it.
thankfully I didn't lose my commission account, probably because its more new, but I don't think I'll be staying because this site hasn't done great for a while and it really pisses me off that they lost the email to my account

To be honest though, I have often thought of leaving. I just don't like the user interface on FA, and I never have. But I have not found another site that I like better that has a decent amount of traffic and reach. *shrug* In the end, I don't dislike it enough to quit, so I'm still here~

This is just like every other time. People creating accounts on the next new furry art website and saying they'll leave FA, but they never really leave. Ya know, when you already have some popularity, you don't wanna leave to somewhere else where you'll have to start that all over. I guess that's why most people don't leave after all, and that's why I won't leave either, because here at least I get some appreciation, while elsewhere it feels like I'm posting to an empty room where no one ever goes.

I would love to move and watch all the artists I currently do on a different gallery. Though what I am seeing is most are not leaving FA and I don't really want to have two sites to check. So I will most likely be seeing how many artist I follow have an alternative gallery (Weasyl, Furry Netwrok, etc) and decide after I do a tally.

I think most people survived, they're just upset because they keep remembering how much of a stranglehold FA has over the community. Part of the reason I joined FurryNetwork and Weasyl was because FA seems unreliable, in addition to the operators having poor judgement.

Had some serious issues getting back in, but thankfully with help from Dragoneer I got my account and my gallery back. So glad, because half of this gallery isn't backed up as it goes back the best part of 10-12 years.

Im not sure about moving.. its like... this site is the most comfortable :/ even if errors comes quite often.

I had no problem with the reset and I sure will stay here, in the end most people will probably be here anyway. I do also use other sites like furry network. (Which I really love, but FA still feels more active.)

Honestly this is a good website, people seem to be quite negative in this incident. Break-ins happen. It's impossible to beat hackers they are always getting better, we can only defend against tactics they have already used. If a good hacker really wants to get some passwords they were going to get it regardless, it's just the risk you have to take for being on the Internet. I'm here to stay I have nothing to hide on FA anyways
