‧͙⁺˚*・༓☾☽༓・*˚⁺‧ Cleared a lot of old journals and wanted to just toss up another one for the front page.
Figure I'd pop in to say I start my new Job at Target on Wednesday (Orientation) and should get my schedule.
Hopefully it'll be a bit more stable than my previous job.
Anyways, going to relax, draw and enjoy my holiday weekend, mostly away from FA.
The amount of gross people in the fandom has gave me nothing but a stomach ache and a headache.
I'll contact clients as needed etc.
Have a good weekend!

I just hope I never see anything real going on. This kitty would become a demon pretty quickly if I did, and I really don't want the jail time away from my kids. >,<
But since the internet is a vast communication tool for sharing things, people feel the need to do just that. When like minded people start sharing their private creations with others, communities form. Opinions change. You start feeling accepted in what you're apart of for that community. You are now around it more so than you would be with just yourself. It starts to become normalized. Ideas are shared.. and there the slope really starts downhill.
Mind you, I can't speak for every single individual. I'm not going to blanket term everyone. I want to make that clear. But evidence has shown that these "communities that allow CP (be it cub or not)" have born people to start taking things into the realm of acting out on them. Be it that they end up around minors and start baiting them with cp art at a young age, showing them and normalizing them into thinking that those acts are ok to do. And in some cases, doing it with them in RL.
Than there is the desensitization theory where you're so immersed into the subject that you know you shouldn't act out on, that it finally stops working for you anymore. This has been proven with even vanilla porn in studies. They've shown that if you submerge yourself around genres of porn for too long, you become numb to it and strive for more ways to get back to that ecstasy feeling like you use to have.
I honestly don't think communities that include CP fantasy should be allowed. Same with snuff to be blunt. They've caught killers who had mass amounts of snuff fantasy art and stories loaded on their HDs that finally couldn't take it anymore and acted out on it.
I will repeat again, this behavior does not reflect everyone that is involved with these themes. But it obviously has effected some, and those some are too many already in my opinion.
Do these people need help? My opinion is they do, but I think we shouldn't destroy the internet gathering places. We should USE them to find those that can be helped, and use it as evidence against those that can't. Your points are valid, but we don't actually know for sure about these theories on the effects that these gathering places have on these people. They're just theories. Today's technology hasn't been around long enough for us to have anything to compare to in a proper scientific sense.
We can see the trends in statistics, but we can't tell what's causing them without a great deal more data, whether one causes another or something else causes both and they actually have little to do with each other.
And I stare at what I'm saying and realize it sounds like I'm defending these folk...I'm not. I just know that a few of my own preferences would be grounds to make some folk think I "need help", but I took control when I was young and used the internet communities to turn it into a separate "internet" life, effectively channeling it off into a fictitious character so I could live a normal, peaceful life. I can't imagine I'm the only one, and also can't imagine what would have happened to me without those communities that allowed that outlet. I can only speak from my own experience, but I doubt I'm alone, and I do know I'm a very, very lucky gal to be raised as I was, with the strength and wisdom to deal with urges that have nothing to do with health and safety. So many aren't so lucky.
Of course...this doesn't mean I want anything to do with these sites. *shudder* I really wish FN didn't allow cub. That should be on dedicated sites without other forms of art imo. It makes them easier to track if things do go bad. But then again, maybe the diluted art helps keep them from getting too worked up to control themselves...
Bah. So much we still don't know! For all I know it's aliens manipulating us all like puppets for their amusement. *shrug* So I just watch, and learn, and wait. Maybe some day it will all come clear.
The only issue is, if they are online, creating art, sharing it, discussing and masturbating to it, is that fixing the issue or only feeding it?
Do you treat it as an addiction of sorts and remove them from the subject matter or feed them opioids as some others have done, in hopes that it sedates something else?
I'm reading up on the wiki article under treatments and it seems that most treatments for this disorder are aversion from the sexual desires themselves. Though since such little study has been done, the results are mixed.
Reading from a few more sites also suggests the same aversion to try and enable the person from acting out their sexual desires.
Nothing I've ran across though suggests to sedate urges with creativity or fantasy.
Most though suggest turning their sexual desires through therapy, to adults instead.
Articles site that there have been a good amount that with constant therapy, have lived on to lead successful lives with adult partners.
Treatments can include, hormone suppressants to fight off feelings of sexual desires, empathy therapy, and life long conditioning.
Expert from an article: "The prognosis for pedophilia is difficult to determine. For pedophiles, these longstanding sexual fantasies about children can be very difficult to change. The practitioner can attempt to reduce the intensity of pedophiliac fantasies and develop coping strategies for the abuser but they must be willing to recognize that a problem exists and be willing to participate in treatment which is not always the case. Dynamic psychotherapy, behavioral techniques, chemical approaches, and surgical interventions yield mixed results. Lifelong maintenance may be a pragmatic and realistic approach."
I ran across a site explaining that a university in Germany was trying to reach out to help people with pedophilia to get treatment without bias. Patient quotes were included and one mentioned he didn't have the urge to watch or look at porn anymore. He had learned to instead mitigate those urges by looking at sports stories and so on until he was occupied and the urge was gone.
While, some treatment through creative outlet obviously has its place with other disorders/desires etc, I don't believe it is a safe treatment for pedophiles or persons with those types of sexual desires.
