So I saw the Warcraft Movie. NO SPOILERS
I must admit that when I went to see this film I had my fingers crossed and was muttering "please don't suck please don't suck please don't suck please don't suck please don't suck please don't suck.."
As lets be honest, most Game to movie adaptations do really tend to suck and suck hard.
This movie though pleasantly surprised me. The CGI is STUNNING. You open on a long shot of Durotan's face and he looks real (and very sexy too!) and he looks organic, not some CGI thing on a bad blue screen (hello Star Wars episodes 1 - 3).
The story is easy to follow and it was actually nice to see Orcs as being some good guys (well some Orcs, Gul'dan is an utter utter bastard in the movie).
The human acting was good, they played their parts well, and there was the right use of humor and subtle nods to the game. The action was very good, for a 12 rated movie there's some very nicely violent parts in it (not much blood). The score was also very good and it flowed well.
My main criticism is that there's a LOT to take in and it could have done with being 15 - 30 minutes longer, but it does not leave you sitting there going 'what? why? Who?" and someone who's not familiar with the lore and the universe could watch this without a problem.
All in all its a good solid fantasy movie and I really recommend seeing it.

FA+

Also glad to hear the story is presented well, because quite a few people like myself aren't very familiar with the original games which this is based on >>
Yes we loved the community, but I still twitch when people say Blackrock Depths, as I remember spending months there getting my 300 FR gear made up for my warrior to tank :p
Do you remember the "Well done Blacksmith, now you need to make the Phantom sword to MAYBE level up your skill by a point. The materials are from Silithus and northern Feralas."
"But..but i'm level 33..."
"Tough shit, crack on."
Also yes they took down Nostolgous, how dare blizzard have to defend its intellectual property am I rite?
And the movie is not about the new expansion in any way shape or form, its basically Warcraft 1.
Also dont know what you mean by I'm one of "those".
I didnt play on Nostolgous, but I do respect that having private severs with no intent on gaining profit is Fair Use, just like how Molten-Wow did.
Mostolgous actually has rights to Fair Use, just like Molten-Wow did and won multiple court cases against their French Lawyers.
And no I dont know what you mean by your blacksmith quote.
noun
(in US copyright law) the doctrine that brief excerpts of copyright material may, under certain circumstances, be quoted verbatim for purposes such as criticism, news reporting, teaching, and research, without the need for permission from or payment to the copyright holder.
So they didn't have rights to fair use and they made a profit off donations. They shot themselves in the foot legally and paid for it, that is the end of that story.
The judge saw no harm in Molten-Wow using the game for purposes other then gaining personal profit and other malicious intent, and has been up and about since.
And now, it's the end of the story.
Or you can ask nicely for the records from Warmane, but dont expect getting it for free.
That said, Nostalgias or w/e it was called proved what the most up to date legal opinion on it is. Hopefully whatever server you are playing on now is smart enough not to make money out of it.
"THOSE CORPERATE BASTARDS! THEY STOPPED MAKING PURPLE KETCHUP! IT WAS MY FAVE!!!"
"Really?"
"I dunno, never tried it in my life."
PS I did have it, it was vile. And how are they malicious? For having to defend their legal property from folks who were making a profit off their work? That's like..not malicious. That's common legal sense.
It's like how I sympathize with Anonymous, but am not apart of the group.

It wasn't used for news, reporting, teaching or research, it was stolen property that they were running. Blizzard usually don't bother with private servers but Nostralius took the piss. BUT, the bright side is we know the two are talking, we don't know what might happen, or not.
US law can say one thing, but in a court hearing with juries, Juries can overrule if it seems innocent enough. Which they've won, and is still alive today.
So yeah, sorry bud. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ They're existence is proof enough, they cant touch Molten. And they still cant today.
If Wow doesnt evolve with the times, they will continue to lose people and eventually poof out.
As fans call warcraft now, it's just facebook.
I agree that Blizzard has made a fair few mistakes and WoD has been quite the dogs egg (save its questing experience), but Cata wasn't a good expansion, good idea, poor execution, WoD wasn't great either, good raiding and good questing but everything else fell flat.
But its not malice, not in the true sense. What it is, is dumb design decisions. But then again, they did improve some stuff.
I was a kitty druid in Wrath, I needed an extra hand and the use of my face to do a successful rotation, now its not so insane and "Hey you missed that proc..NO DPS FOR YOU FOR EVER IN THE FIGHT NOW!" of Wrath and Cata. For one.
So yeah, another lose for the Blizz department ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
The movie does not tie in with the expansion, it does not go "Hey these are from the burning LEGION!!!!" whilst looking directly at you and there's not an orc holding a box with LEGION written on it in some weird product placement. The Movie is about basically re-telling WC1 with actual lore beyond "Orcs are demons from hell, destroy them with the Holy Light of Almighty God." But then again it was the 90's and story wasn't really needed back then. Also if it was promoting the game, you'd expect them to release them both at the same time, Legion's still 2 months off.
And the quote about the blacksmithing was basically me saying the game had some very bad questing and profession design choices. I remember farming Arathi Highland raptors for their hearts, took 3 hours, or the obnoxious shaman water totem quest. "Go here, here here here, there, here, here and here. Then here, there, here again, back over there and finally here. Oh by the way, most of these zones are way higher level than you, you're doing it on foot and have fun with the Son's of Arugal..." Professions were terrible and the questing experience basically stopped at around level 55.
If you wasn't in a big raiding guild then tough shit, enjoy doing LBRS and BRD and MAYBE getting into a raid for Strath/Scholo if your class is needed.
Class design was terrible by todays standards.
"I'mma be a warrior and use my two handed axe!"
"Lel no you're a tank."
"I don't want to be a tank."
"Tough shit, no one will take you unless you tank."
"Paladin, hope you like buffing 40 people one click at a time, each buff lasts 3 minutes, by the time you get to player 38, player 1's buff is running out. No you can't do anything else, oh okay stop crying we might let you off off heal."
Druids were healers, priests were healers or mana batteries, enhancement shamans were bloodlust bitches etc etc.
We remember the good days, we remember the first time we saw Ragnaros and the first time we killed him, we remember the instances and the RP.
What we don't remember, or willingly forget is getting kicked in the teeth by the quest design, the game design and choices. Vanilla was not this golden land of milk and honey. It had its superb moments, and for many of us was the first game of its type we played, its where we met and became friends with people we are still friends with today for some of us. And that's what I miss, the community. Not the entitled asshats of todays online gaming communities. If you was a cunt to people in Vanilla, people knew very quickly and it forced you to behave.
I never played vanilla, so 90% of what your saying is going way past my head. I started on LK, and went from there.
