I've seen many people in the past complain about how furry artists offering commissions charge far too much for their services. I've said the same thing myself, though that's also because I feel my money is best spent on my other hobbies rather than pictures which carry only intrinsic value and with little resale value. However, it's silly how outraged I see some people over the rates that artists charge for the work as if everyone with talent in the furry community met behind closed doors and negotiated a deal where they all jack their prices high to line their pockets. What sets the prices so high isn't the artists being money grubbing sleezebags, it's the people who are willing to pay the prices they charge. These artists provide goods and services to whoever wants them, and the market dictates which of those goods sell and at what value. I've looked at pictures in the past by well known artists and asked myself how some artists can get away with auctioning off a YCH slot for some uninspiring porn for $400, but that's all the fault of the person buying it. For whatever reason, there are lots of people in the fandom who feel that their money is best spent commissioning thousands of dollars in gay furry porn. You can't fault the artists for meeting that demand, their work is only as valuable as what others are willing to pay for it. So instead of hating on the artists, slap the guy who is spending all his money on them.
