[CLOSED] I wanna do some critiques, send me stuff
9 years ago
No more please, I will do the ones who requested. (I will do this later too, its fun)
So I'm feeling better, and started to work on stuff again, yey.
My favorite thing to do in life is to criticize others do redlines/overpaints and give advice to people regarding art stuff. It would be a nice get-back for me as my hands are still stiff and commissions are a bit too challenging, I need a few more days to really get back into flow. (I am doing them again though, but with large breaks)
So if you feel up to it send me a gallery or a specific image, and any questions/concerns about your art.
I will redline if I can, and tell a bunch of things I think. It will be up to you if you take it or leave it.
(Chibis are so not my world I can't do anything with them so thats not gonna work sry)
I will be honest and in times brutal, so if you just want compliments I'm not your man.
I love getting these myself, mithril007, Sycra and Marc Brunet did me a few and they were such a huge help.
*I'm horrible and actual help is not guaranteed.
(I prefer comments so others can see and maybe learn, but notes work too if you really don't want to make it public)

I find colours really difficult and have always admired how you make your colour choices.
In my last few submissions in my gallery I've used a ton of references to try and get nice colours but I still feel very lacking.
Apart from the one titled "lazy ghoul," coz that was just a quick thing, would you be able to give any advice or critiques for my art as a whole?
I've ALWAYS been a very gottagofastNYOOOOM kinda person, with everything from exams, chores, reading to artwork and have been trying to force myself to slow down and not go nyoom which has helped, and set a hotkey to flip the canvas so I can constantly flip to check stuff.
I'd love any advice from you, o wise one ;w;
and I'm TG trash(I will need some time this was just a quick comment)
At the moment I don't feel skilled enough to do that picture, I'm so bad with indoor scenery >__< and ty =P
your colors are already pretty good
What I would suggest is trying to give images more mood and more unified color scheme. You already do this, I think you could just emphasize it.
Another thing is playing with the contrast in an image; generally you want the most important part to have the highest contrast. (like a dark characters head is up against the lightest point in the background and vica versa)
This is my mock up for some suggested changes on your last piece: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u.....it/jagzcat.jpg
I used many techniques I learnt from here years ago: https://youtu.be/IObh3b2XGuQ?t=5m7s
I also overlaid a gradient map of the default orange-purple on "hue" layer setting and low opacity. the point in that is how the whole image becomes closer to the character's color. now the harsh greens on the leaves don't take so much attention and the dragon afar becomes more apparent.
I also darkened the corners so the image is more framed; the composition is doing a good job with the stones and the tree, but it supports it a bit more.
I also recommend checking this out: http://www.artofscholes.com/checkingvalues/
hope this helps some~
Also that means one day I must commission you for a tokyo ghoul themed picture, when you are healthy and less busy :3
Also I really love your work with tone and materials and it would be wonderful if you can give me some advice about this! ^__^
But honestly I want to learn a thing or two from you, especially about coloring. I wonder if you took art classes in the past?
Well, I don't mind to share experience with each other. :) And nope, I'm self-taught.
I'm not amazing, so it probably won't take more than a couple of minutes! :)
if your ever up for giving your word on some of my pieces, i would be game
