New Cheap Laptop - Problems almost over
General
As I feared, my MacBook's logic board is the problem. The same problem as 3 years ago. And Apple doesn't make those parts anymore. Not to mention it would have been like $400+ to fix it if they still did.
So today, I was lucky enough to afford a simple new $230 laptop which I am currently breaking in. I guess this is how it should be though, using an easily replaceable windows laptop instead of an expensive one that still needs replacing/repairs every 3 years regardless.
Anyway, once I get my art programs installed I'll be back to work, but I still have to get my data off my mac hard drive through another working mac before I can continue work on things like FNAB and other ongoing projects.
Please bear with me during this. I hate it as much as you all do, only I'm the one who has to deal with fixing it.
Thank you all.

I have heard that the Mac and the Windows OS's have been running on the same hardware chip sets for quite some time, now. Also heard that the Mac OS is far less demanding on said hardware.
Does that mean that it's even remotely possible to make your Mac stuff work on this new laptop with the proper re-formatting of the HDD? (Really...seek out the advice of people that truly know this stuff if you even are remotely considering it. I've just heard about this stuff being possible.)
My plan is to get the few remaining files I didn't backup in June from that Mac HDD and then just start fresh with this PC.
But if he were okay using a desktop, those particular parts are easy to find and pretty cheap.
Thanks for the suggestion though
Yeah, I'm a hardware snob, I'll admit it, but it's good to hear that you've got your issues sorted out. Wish I could help recover your files, but I only have one external HD enclosure, and I need it for data backups.
No worries though - we'll find a way to get him up and running again. He's already got an enclosure that works, it's just a matter of getting it to all play nice.
I'm just glad to be back to work.
