Does it bother you guys when an artist gets obsessed with how many watchers they have?
I admit that I get bummed when I don't have as many as other artists.
But at the same time I feel like people put way too much emphasis on the quality of the artist by how many people are following them.
And from what I see there is no formula for watches. Some great artists don't have many. And some (shitty) artists have thousands.
Not just furaffinity too. Other art websites, YouTube included.
Do you think there's some kind of formula for getting a fan base?
I'm thinking consistency is a major thing.

I remember when I had only a couple watchers and everyone was all like "HOWDY"
every gosh darn second they could get. Now everyone new to me starts off extremely formal.
But the more watchers you get, the more watchers you get, then the more you get, and more.
It's some weird cycles of piling on top of eacher more and more
What I've been doing is having my characters directly interact with my watchers.
They seem to like it. Such weird creatures wanting interactions and such. I think
it's fun, so It's alright with me. I'm pretty happy.
I tend to flock more towards folks who give me the opportunity to interact in
some way with them as well. I much like comment journals like this. I like
sitting for an hour thinking about random stuff like this.
interesting people more, if holidays effect me in any way, certain tags I use.
General stuff I like to know as knowledge about the community I'm in. Pfft, I'll
still draw what I want, because if I draw what I like, then the community i make
for myself will be a okay.
Ive been thinking about doing more character interaction and I really adore your Response pieces that youve done with Valor.
Oh and yeah ive come to the realization that maybe people do want to follow an artist that can talk and interact about things other than just getting art. XD makes em seem more like a person than somone who just wants to make money of ya.
and ive always admired your stance on drawing what you like and not just what some people want to see. I understand it makes for a better watcher community but also i respect your resolve to do what you want in art.
to figure what to type to folks.
Like, just pull from any comment that could happen on any of your arts unexpectedly. XD
I think it's really fun and it really gets more people involved, too. I'd love to hang out with
other's characters, too. It's so fun. I learn so much about characters and artists through it.
I'm really glad past me stuck with it way back when. It was really hard at first for a while
when I first decided that's how I'd roll. I can see it's a tad of a harder road I want to be on,
but that's okay. I planned to work as hard as I could from the start. You got a super goal?
I also really just want to make cool projects and make things people think are interesting and creative. like, adding pizzaz instead of copy paste things i see so often.
Ive been keeping a list of ideas, i havent been able to act on them yet. like. today i thought. "I really want to make puzzles of characters so people can be hands on with their purchases."
then hang them up on my wall! I actually want to commission a certain artist (Probably not in my lifetime)
for art of a dragon so I could ask to have it turned into a puzzle. I don't make largescale images
like that often enough for me to do that.
