On publication and hormonal matters

Strange title, right? Hehe. Anyways, let's start with... okay, both are pretty big news. But- HRT! I should be starting soon! Within the year! Which is, like, holy fuck. All of a sudden its within my grasp. My first steps. Damn... it's refreshing. I'll be so excited~
But also... publication. This is kinda the big thing I can write more about. My original idea of publishing through a local publisher is a... well, problem at the very least. It would be thousands of dollars to get only a thousand copies, and as it would have to have a kickstarter for it- it would probably be 1000+ backers to reach that, maybe- leaving no more copies around, not to mention I don't think that company ships. :-/ But I could keep it published wherever I wanted, which is certainly a positive.
Now, I've been looking into other paths- specifically, a bigger publishing company. Baen, actually- not sure how likely I'd be to get a book with them... BUT Divine Wasteland fits all their criteria. Sci-fi or fantasy and between 100K and 130K words (DW is 111K). They also have a tendency to publish series of books, and, well, book 2 is in progress. They may not pay 100% royalties but the costs of getting published with them will be much lower if not free and many more copies will be out there, perhaps even in major book stores.
Can you imagine that? Divine Wasteland in a Barnes and Noble or something? My gods, it sounds glorious. Praise Ventus? Hehe.
Baen's a pretty big company for the genre, and has actually published several of my favorite authors. They also pay at a higher rate than the industry standard which is surprising, and so if there's a large amount of books out there I may just make my first step into the world of publishing.
But I can't have it anywhere else, and that means taking off the amazon listing and even off of FA. Maybe- how likely would it be for them to find it here? Ah... I would have to remove it as to avoid the risk. Sorry about that. But the horrors of the holy will keep coming out if I do get published with Baen!
So, I need your thoughts. Take a shot with the big guys?

Its too bad that you would have to pull out of Amazon (lots of exposure) but having a book in print is very cool! If they want "exclusive" rights, they must have a client base and on-line mailing list, so the exposure might even be better targeted than with Amazon.
It sounds like definitely looking into.
Good Luck!
