Sick Cockatiel Update (Doctoring)
Hi, guys!
Sydney finally got his examination yesterday, after a stressful 30 minute ride, vehicle malfunction, and one very displeased Uber driver.
As suspected, he appears to have a fungal (possibly Candida) infection in at least his upper respiratory tract (particularly nose). He's also underweight, but not dangerously so.
Henceforth, he will be given a trial run of antifungal, administered orally, which apparently tastes like nightmares. If this doesn't work, he'll be going back for a CBC, which, at $130, will take the rest of his funds and then some. However, the current treatment, plus improved diet, may be all he needs to keep going until he well and truly succumbs to advanced old age.
I will continue to update as the situation develops. THANK YOU AGAIN TO ALL WHO CONTRIBUTED TO THE CAUSE.

DANG, YOU GUYS. I have made $200 of my $150 goal thanks to super generous contributions. I'M OVERWHELMED and at a loss for words.
I'll be sure to throw an update here about Sydney's recovery and improved health. Right now, he's puffed, irritable, and somewhat congested, but eating us out of house and home, which is always promising. He just needs the right treatment to curb stomp his infection and return to his former glorious holy terror status (as birbs are wont to do) and to prevent one of his bad days becoming the worst day.
Videos and things forthcoming. THANKS AGAIN FOR SAVING MY GERIATRIC BEST FRIEND/ADOPTED BROTHER!

I'm very pleased to announce that, thanks to a couple very generous donations, $100 of my $150 goal has been reached! I can now afford his exam and hopefully a basic test for candida, etc., so I feel confident enough to make Sydney's appointment on Monday. That's the biggest step forward, and I'M SO GRATEFUL FOR THIS, EEEEE.
If anyone wants to chuck literally a few bucks at me so I can ensure treatment and get some proper food instead of drab seed (I supplement with vegetables when I can), that would also be amazing, but by no means absolutely necessary at this point.
More updates as they happen!

Hi, guys.
Long-time, no talk, much lurk. First, I guess a quick update is in order.
I'm still struggling to pay rent and obtain food while seeking employment that may accommodate my health struggles (including cervical stenosis/myelopathy as seen here, lumbar spine herniation, and EDS dysautonomia). HOWEVER, I'm centrally located in Albuquerque (downtown) where I rent from a landlord who's a patient and forgiving professional cook, and I've been extremely fortunate to have access to necessary healthcare. I also have incredibly generous friends who support my cause whenever they can. I'm truly and humbly grateful.
That said, I can't seem to scrape enough funds together to foot the veterinary bill of my 21 year long avian companion, Sydney. He's been in my life since I was 13, and, after the death of my parents, has become the last of my close kin. In those 21 years, he's been in a doctor's office three times, and never due to an illness. But now, in his ripe age, he has developed a tenacious respiratory infection that is causing him progressive weakness and pain. Intervention is crucial before he's weakened beyond hope.
The veterinary hospital I contacted quoted me $60 for exam, with additional costs for tests, and antibiotics, so I'm aiming for $150 to cover all possible expenses (including sprouting seeds for an improved diet). $100 would help immensely. I haven't been able to offer full commissions due to chronic pain, weakness, and an existing queue, so I can only ask for donations and offer experimental sketches in return. If you can't donate, spreading the word would be equally appreciated.

Hello, fellow artists and watchers.
Commission queue is currently filled to capacity. I'm also in the throes of trying to redesign a large website, as well as land odd jobs to make rent, so progress is slow.
I'm still working my way through some great requests from the ever-patient...

Which veterinary clinic do you go to? Those prices are exactly what my clinic charges, haha... Just curious :D

OP
Wait, are you in New Mexico? That would be rad! I went to Ventana animal clinic, since it had the best reviews (especially for avian specialists). They're certainly keen on followup calls, which is appreciated.
