The past year or so, I've begun exploring my furry side - I guess I'm what most would call "fur curious". I may never get beyond that. I'm far too introverted to go full-on furry. Recently, I've been playing around a lot on Twitter. I've noticed a few things, some of which really bother me. If anybody ever reads this, perhaps they can weigh in on it.
Through Twitter (and following various furry profiles), I've learned that the furry community has a vast amount of artistic ability. I'm in absolute awe of people that can draw like that. I've learned about something called Fursuit Friday. I've learned about Bad Dragon. I really want some of those toys, but I just don't know how I would explain them to my husband. I've learned to be very selective of which profiles to follow. My feed was being flooded with the most amazing assortment of porn, more than I realized was possible. It was just too much.
I'm also seeing a lot of depression and self-esteem issues. This is the stuff that really bothers me. Are these issues simply an artist thing (I kind of get that artists tend to be more sensitive, so maybe?) or is it because a lot of these kids are gay and they think poorly of themselves because of it? I like to think current times are relatively enlightened compared to when I was growing up, but maybe not. Maybe somebody can help me understand.
