Confurgence 2017
So after much worry and stress, we got to
Confurgence this year. It had its ups and downs, *WAY* more ups than downs thankfully- and again it was a great Con, run by a great team and some awesome volunteers.
We didn't attend any panels, instead choosing to do other things with friends we hadn't seen in a long while, and to make stuff In our room, as I had brought my vinyl cutter with me, so I made some bits and bobs for us and friends. As I was running behind, I was still handsewing the banners on Wednesday when we got in a day early, and ended up spending the night with some other furry friends.
I made the banners using the amazing
Rotarrs artwork- she created the fabulous house sigils that I turned into banners- they ended up raising something like $1300 for the charity- the Horse Shepherd Equine Sanctuary which reduced me to tears on auction day!
I also volunteered to make a banner for two of the people who won House Shadow and House Wolf banners as part of their bid booty. I'm super excited to get started!
I met the incomparable
Wolfy-Nail and he drew me a cute sketch of my fursona, just as I imagine her- he is a fantastic artist, and the piece is now my most treasured art piece! 3am 'Hold my beer- Challenge Accepted' art is the best art!
We met lots of first timers, it was nice to not be the brand new furs at the Con, and to be able to be helpful to furs who'd not been before- giving them the run down of who was who, introducing them to everyone, and showing them the best places to eat, making sure that during the heat they were hydrated, and also got some sleep. 621 is important!
It was all in all a great time- and I'm super glad we went. We had planned on going in 2018, but at this stage I'm not sure if that will happen. I had intended on potentially applying to be an Art Director but due to some personal stuff I'm not sure that will happen now. Who knows what the year will bring though- its only just begun!
