I'm right there with you.
Tired of skype suddenly hogging resources, or crashing other things in the background when it loads ads.
Tired of it not working quite right, or constantly updating itself even when I tell it not to.
The final straw was having friends who had figured out how to keep the older version for convenience, but then new skype deciding that they would be unavailable for voice calls.

Discord definitely seems great, and the voice channel chat is so much easier.

Is Discord really like a better version of Skype, with video and audio chats and messaging? :0 Skype often gets on my nerves, and it would be great to have an alternative to go to.

Don't know about video, but the short time I've used Discord it's light years better than skype.
Once you learn where everything is an how it all works which didn't take me long at all.

Video/screensharing is being in development right now, still not out to the public though. We should see it for mid-march or something like that maybe!
