I think it's a good start, yeah. What would help is giving the feathers more separation, since feathers have visible end tips. Think like scales for a dragon character, even, and look up tutorials for those as well.

The second one gives me some ideas on how to handle the difference between the longer feathers at the back of the head and the shorter ones up by the eyes/forehead, as well as coloring for longer feathers. The first one looks helpful for more methodically drawing the textures in. Thanks! ^^ These definitely give me some direction on what I can do to make things look better, I appreciate the help.
