so turns out I was massively misinformed in regards to copyright laws.

basically to summarize all the bloody research i just did.

it is illegal to use a piece of work in most ways. Obviously looking at it to get some influence is one thing, but lets say you wanted to massively alter the artwork in any way. Like free hand draw it but breaking it up into many pieces, that is still copyright infringement.
