Was there any word of the actual cause of death?

The family does not actually know due to no next of kin, apparently the law is different, since also his parents have passed on... Anything right now is A Wild Guess.

That's a shame. No wonder he was not discovered for days.

Well, actually, it was because he lived alone, and his family were used to During The Week being minimal contact.

Thank you, Ryan for the update. Right now I think the comic is still something that can wait after such a tragedy, at least there should be no hurry.

It is nice that his brothers want to give his comic legacy some sort of completion. It would be a shame to see something Albert worked so hard and so long just stop and fade into the annals of time.

Wait, the brothers don't count as next of kin? O_o

I am not a legal person, I can only state what was told to me. As far as I can say "There are legal hurdles" was what they told me. Odds are there is an Actual Reason, but I do not know it. So, I am contenting myself with "legal tie ups"

the answer is easy. Heaven wanted Gene Catlow to be published There, and made suitable arrangements.

Thanks for the updates, and happy folk were able to make it. Nice that his brothers are wanting to preserve/advance Albert's creation. Sorry I wasn't able to make it, did have a good time serving our local homeless here in Scott's Valley, was able to help out a lady who's photo-journalling her homeless experiences and had a storage dilemma. So in Albert/Gene's memory, I was able to fix her up with an otc storage solution and 64GB of sd card. Albert being a tech-y type. Thanks again! Take care, all. Stubat

Thanks for the news. If I had any contact with his brothers I'd gladly offer to help inking the sketches he left...it's the least I can do to honor his memory.

They are both artists in their own regards as well. The biggest difficulty is going to be in finding any notes he had put down, in writing or in digital, and piecing together the story's end.

Those of us who knew Gene will tell you, he didn't have /A/ computer, or /a/ stack of notes. And will understand this is no small task.

*nods* Yes...I'm well aware it's a monumental task. Albert was a creative force that could hardly be matched.

Most people have no idea just how much a force of nature he was when it came to creating. Lets just say that I've learned a LOT about him in the past near two months of dealing with this...

I'd known him twenty years, I had no idea a few things...

So did I...I've only known him online since I'm all the way down in South America but I've had somewhat regular contact with him for around 15 years or so if I'm correct, ever since he featured my fursona on his comic and gave him much more attention than I ever expected and to which I will be forever grateful.

He used to insist that my drawings were worth something despite me always saying otherwise...that's why I wish to offer whatever little help I can on the joint effort of completing his life's work.

If you guys need ANY help filling in the blanks writing wise I am here.

Rdewalt: Mr. Temple and Ms. Gilroy sent me numerous e-mails when I asked them for information for my fanfic. Ask if his brothers would like me to send them an archive. My hotmail is the same as my FA.

Ah, OK: my question I was about to ask was "What happens now"-- I never met him personally (and I think I met you, just once, with your kid)-- but as a fellow artist, I would hazard to guess that he would want the story to be told and complete, at least be given a resolution, even though this unexpected circumstance has occurred...

[FIVE YEARS LATER...]

I was looking through some old Emails and found some of my interactions with Albert. Fond memories. Got me to going through the comic from around 2012-2013 to the end (2017)... AGAIN! In the five years since his earthly departure, has ANYTHING popped up concerning a revival of Gene Catlow? Even without his notes... I'm sure we could theorize a satisfying conclusion based on the general direction events were going.

- Matt was trying to salvage his operation, which was basically blown wide open, so that the Cosmic Cats wouldn't shut him down and end his legacy.
- Cydnee was determined to destroy Dominic Dane
- There was the Avenging puppet (dog)
- And all sorts of other drama...

A bazillion threads to tie up, but wouldn't it be nice to put a pretty bow on everything? I think the best way to approach it would be to have individual people work on individual characters. Create a storyline and see how each storyline matches up. As far as "group characters" (like Gene and CW and the others in the arena), they could be treated as one entity, until it seems reasonable to splits them up as needed.

Based on the way things were going, do we believe Matt would eventually be ruined and brought to naught or die fighting? Same for Cydnee. Several others within his group seemed to be voicing dissent, to one degree or another. So, I'd imagine the entire house of cards eventually falls apart. We could wrap it up and then start a new story, with different "main characters" (kinda like if the whole Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker scenario actually continued on... with Rey as the new uber-Jedi) going after a new threat.

We can always dream. If anyone sees this post, I'd like to at least know if this "conclusion" will or ever could actually happen... or if it truly is "The End" of an era... with no further continuation or conclusion possible.

At this point, I would say it's very unlikely that the story will ever be resumed, sadly.
