I'm unsure what the smoldering mass the siblings were tossed into was -- it looked like hot coals, but their mother was going on about how Aku came from darkness just before shoving Ashi in, so it may have been some sort of scorching darkness as well. There's a fair degree of fantasy logic at play in the series.

(Incidentally, how many references to the original series did they manage to pack into that single episode? I counted 7, maybe 8.)

My only gripe was that she scrubbed it off with cold water and stones but came away without a mark on her body.

I mean, they got away with the penis joke just a moment earlier in the episode, so I'm baffled.

I don't think the audience was ready for the idea of a "stoned cold pussy"

Would a few identifying cut marks/scars and a little blood in the water been too much to ask?

I think it was meant to be a sort of pumice stone that she used...I am unsure how satisfying an answer would this be if it were the case.

Not so much embarrassed as now aware she needed something to cover herself since, I do believe, the black was a type of bodysuit/armor.

this new season is the best way to complete an otherwise since unfinished work that deserved some proper conclusion, and the darker more stoic feel still mixes well with the Tartokovsky brand of humor all too perfectly thus far.

Also, sucks to be Scaramouche.

I fn love the new season. Originally I was fearing that the cartoon was going to put Jack and Ashi in a love relationship (as a couple); not all stories need to have romance. Fortunately it seems like its going to develop more in a father/daughter kind of relationship.

I am okay with the assumption that she was naked so far. It only bothers me that she took it of just as easy. I'll leave it in that this is just a case of Willing Suspension of Disbelief.

I cant wait for the next episode.
1. Scaramouche's penis joke was hilarious and it caught me completely by surprise. I didnt expect that kind of joke in SJ ever.
2. The scottsman's demise was awesome in several ways.

The Scotsman's death was unexpected and a low fucking blow man. Awesome, but a low blow.

That was a good episode and I loved all the cameos.

You know, the way Ashi's mother was talking in that scene. I had assumed that was an "Aku soot". Something of a gift made by Aku for his assassins. Just warm it up and apply! =P
It seems to not let any shade or definition become visible, so... yeah, they've been running around stark naked, but no way to know it!

Frankly, what really got me thinking was that when they were born, they already looked like they were covered in soot. They were all pitch black when born on and placed on that alter. *shrugs*

Well, they have to leaf something to the imagination.

Soot, or whatever demi-mystical pile of demonic crud was percolating in that firepit. For someone seared by potentially scalding ash and fire, Ashi's remarkably unscarred and unscathed by it, even after all those years. (which is why I think that pile was something weirder than just a soot pile. Maybe a donated pile of Aku's skin shavings or something. Can't be pleasant to have cling to ya, but maybe doesn't leave a mark?)

The tales of Honor each race tells Ashi are a beautiful tribute I think. It actually made me think back to a bunch of the episodes, and realize just how many groups he really affected.

The fun point they are making is that as a daughter of Aku that had to burn her in the darkness of evil to cover her up in that
Which hides her nekkidness. So the show is saying hiding your body is evil and that nakkid is good... just a bit embarrassing.

A bit late but for me it was a bit of a surprise until I heard someone had counted all 37 names for the Scotsmans daughters. Cant wait for the season to hit blue ray or dvd.
