Plase stop calling a wolf a lupine.
Ive read many stories where the author describes their wolf character as a lupine. "The lupine sat on the chair heavily". Please stop. The word to use there is wolf. Or canine. Not lupine.
Lupine is an adjective, not a noun. Its a descriptor for things pertaining to wolves. It is not a synonym for wolf.
An example would be that I'm an Australian (wolf). I am not an Australiania (lupine).
This is a big deal people.
Also my train has stopped in the middle of nowhere for the last forever, so thats why.

I thought you were one of those pokey men.
Your also a wobbly wiggler :3. I think what ends up happening is people writing stories ends up thinking wolf and canine is excessive in the story after using the word thirty times or more o.o.

"a lupine howl"
So technically, when someone said "The lupine sat on the chair heavily" he did not realize that lupine as a noun means a plant of the pea family, with deeply divided leaves and tall, colorful, tapering spikes of flowers sat on the chair heavily. Gee, I did not know plants had the ability to see on chairs.
Thats... unfortunate :o

I swear to god I'm gonna visualize a fucking pea plant any time I read someone using the word Lupine to describe something now. My sides can't take that much abuse.
cherish it.
Unless you called them lupines as a name, in which case congratulations, youve cheated the system ^^
Also my back itches.
As to wolves though I'm probably guilty of using lupine, although come to think of it I don't recall any of the characters in my stories being wolves, so now I'm not sure. I get why they do it though, the same reason that I used feline, leporine, etc. Because typing "the rabbit" "the cat" gets so so old after a time.
I'd also raise a linked issue, that clearly it can be annoying to use lupine over and over again, use different descriptors!
Most of us at his point in our life don't really care too much/enough, but it does eventually matter
If your a writer for a story even a short one, try to mix things up a little! We didn't learn about a thesaurus in elementary school for nothing
Synonyms do not equal SINonyms
tl;dr lrn2english n00b
"The canine sat on the chair heavily"
"The gray wolf or grey wolf (Canis lupus), also known as the timber wolf or western wolf, is a canine native to the wilderness and remote areas of Eurasia and North America."
Canine = wolf. Dogs are also in the same category.
Just sayin'.
Edit: I'm also coming to realize that I've been using "vulpine" wrong the same way. ;3; Learning and researching more for myself now so that I don't continue to obliviously make more mistakes.~
