FAQ - Badges
These are my most frequently asked questions in regards to Badges.
If you have any questions not answered here, don't be shy to comment!
#1 - What Markers do you Use?
Φ
I use a mix of many markers.
I prefer PrismaColor because they were my first Professional Marker before Copics, and apply evenly.
I also use select Copics as well as Bic Markers, and the occasional off-brand alcohol marker if I need a strange color I can't find in Prisma or Copics.
I will also use Gelly Roll Metallic Colored Pens for Sparkle Fur Affects.
#2 - What do you Use to Line your Badges?
Φ
I use EK Tools for standard lining.
(If a badge has a dividing line between sections of black, I use Pilot Precise V5 (Rolling Ball Extra Fine), Uniball, or PaperMate (Flair).)
*(Pilot and Uniball smear and must be applied as the very last thing, PaperMate dries quickly but isn't as dark.)
EK Tools are my favorite because they dry instantly and do not smear, even right after application.
#3 - What do you Use to Highlight?
Φ
I use Gelly Roll White for the White marks, Gelly Roll Stardust Clear for Sparkles, and Gelly Roll Metallic for Silver Piercings.
#4 - Is there a Signature on the Front?
Φ
No, but I will possibly start doing so.
About 100 badges ago, I started signing, "Art By -MΦcha-Bear-" on the back.
However, I might start adding my "Φ" signature to the fronts since it is small and subtle.
#5 - Does my Badge Have to Have Sticker Letters for the Name?
Φ
Nope!
I offer Custom Name Plates as well, but Sticker Letters are my Standard unless the name is long.
You must ask for the Custom Name Plates otherwise.
Examples: x / x
#6 - Can I Pick My Badge Background?
Φ
Not at this time, no.
I have hundreds of available background choices, and personally select one that matches the colors of the commissioned character.
I also don't allow for someone to select one they see in my gallery, because it could be out of stock and unavailable for future purchase.
I will however allow for a commissioner to ask for a Galaxy Background.
Galaxy Backgrounds do cost $10 extra as I normally have to buy something like a calendar to use for the image.
They do not come as single pages.
*(I may offer Custom Backgrounds in the Future that would be Hand Made via Watercolor or Marker, but they are not Available yet and would be Extra.)
#7 - How do you Laminate?
Φ
I have a Lamination Machine I Purchased from Walmart for $20 or so.
This works with the Thermal Sealing Pouches they also Sell at Walmart.
After Lamination I cut out with Spare Fabric Scissors that are Extra Sharp for Precise and Clean Edges.
#8 - Why did my Badge Not come with a Clip?
Φ
I no longer Ship Clips with Badges because it makes the Shipping Cost more and can Jeopardize the Package if it gets caught on something during Shipping.
You can buy a Set of 5 or so clips from places such as Walmart or Staples for the Cost it would take me to Ship one to you with your Badge.
#9 - What do you Use to Cut the Clip Holes?
Φ
I use an ID Badge Hole Puncher.
You can Purchase them from Amazon Here.
#10 - Will you Ever Offer Digital Badges?
Φ
Maybe!
I love other people's Digital Badges, but have never liked my own.
It's just easier and cheaper to stick with Traditional.
(Plus I LOVE the Texture the Markers make!)
