Q-Con XXIV 2017
General
Friday 16th - Sunday 18th June
I always look forward to Q-Con, and I was really gutted that I wasn't able to get the time off work last year to go, so this was Fester's Q-Con debut, as well as helping a friend out with her stall, so that was good fun.
I didn't suit up on the Friday, because it was so quiet and the Con didn't open until around 5, and was only open until 10, so I thought it would be a waste of time. I went in regular clothes, just some jeans and a shirt, although I think I also wore my patchwork waistcoat as well. It was nice and quiet for most of it, very peaceful as cosplayers and other con-goers were making note of prices and seeing what was there, so it was cool. I was also able to grab some photos of a few cute fursuiters as well, a friend of mine who I recognised named Mutley, and then two new guys that I'd never seen before, a warrior lion and a full suiting dog (I think?) named Pulsar, so that was really cool.
Saturday was unbelievably warm, but I decided to go as Fester anyway, because I wanted to get some photographs taken of him there, along with maybe try to get some shots with some other fursuiters, and I was able to get a couple of them, which was really great. I was mainly on the ground floor and the second floor, where the sellers were, since the friend I was helping with her stall let me take breaks there while I helped with her breaks and helped try to sell some of her art - which is amazing, by the way.
Sunday felt a little bit cooler, but not by much, it was really crazy. The sweat was pouring off me, and I still decided to wear Fester, because apparently I like to punish myself. And not only did I go wearing Fester, I also went cosplaying as a favourite book/movie character, Arthur Dent. That means wearing a big dressing gown over my clothes, along with Fester, my hand paws, my tail under the dressing gown, and my knockoff feet paws. My idea was that, when it got too hot to be wearing my head, I could just walk around in cosplay, and it kind of worked for me, so I have photographs of a cosplaying Fester, which are kinda neat and kinda cute.
Overall, it was a really great Con and I really enjoyed myself. I met a lot of great people, and a lot of great furs as well, I had a blast. I'm sad that I couldn't enter the costume contest, I was busy at the time, but maybe next year! So, the next cons that I should hopefully be going to:
- MCM Northern Ireland (24th-25th June)
- Belfast Film and Comic Con (TBC)
- Dublin Comic Con (12th-13th August)
